Overheating power supply? tested in two different computers

I've had some trouble with this NorthQ 850w power supply for the last month or so. Described in this thread:
    http://forums.hexus.net/help-technic...le-gaming.html

The corsair is doing fine in my PC but my brothers PC just turned off (and he's running a 4830 instead of my computers 4890) suggesting the NorthQ was the problem. This time his pc didnt turn back on , swapped it with an OCZ powersupply and his pc turned on without trouble. I'm guessing there is something wrong with the NorthQ but it happens only during heavy load.

I've never done an rma with scan before so im wondering what the process is. Also will I pay for the shipping if an rma is needed? especially since this is a fairly heavy item.
    I never make sense.

Re: Overheating power supply? tested in two different computers

Just got an email confirming a fault was found, however no replacement available. Here is what I've been told:

We have therefore calculated a refund for you based on the benefit you have had of the goods from the original date of purchase and this amounts to £41.21+vat.

Surely this is a joke? I paid £64 for this power supply, I've owned it for less than 6 months and yet its suddenly not worth a similar replacement. I can't even buy a decent 500watt power supply for that price let alone something similar. Also, it was not my fault the product developed a fault, surely I'm entitled to a full refund or similar replacement (e.g: not a 400watt power supply)

I would love to hear what scan say about this, it's not exactly a fair amount at all.
    I never make sense.
