Unhappy 2nd GTX 470 from SCAN having major problems. (1410 Errors, OCCT) - Very unhappy!

    Hello,
This is my second GTX 470 by ASUS from SCAN.
First one did the same thing really and it's annoying me 'so' much I can't belive it.
I feel like I have wasted my money on this card because I've got a replacement from SCAN and it's still crashing.

I can't sit down and play a good game for a few hours with out the damn thing crashing.

I am really really unhappy with this card as this one and the previous faulty one before and my apparent working replacement have been both faulty!

I ran a test on OCCT for just over 8 minutes and 30 seconds and I received 1410 errors.. That is NOT normal. Especially for the fact that I have never even over-clocked the card - I like to get the longest amount of time out of my computer hardware so I would never consider an over-clock of any component.
I just can't stress how unhappy I am with the card and the fact this is an apparent working replacement provided for my previous faulty card which is again faulty.

Can I please have a re-fund on this card and have the paid balance put towards the EVGA GTX 570 (hoping that Nvidia have fixed many issues) instead of another GTX 470?

Please could you make this happen for me SCAN? As I am still buying another card just an upgraded version from you *also still within the 3 years warranty of my current faulty 470* you would really make my Christmas.

Please get back to me as soon as possible, Danny

I seriously doubt they will do this on a 'post in thread' basis.
    Why not just call them?

Re: 2nd GTX 470 from SCAN having major problems. (1410 Errors, OCCT) - Very unhappy!

Thank you for getting back to me,
The problem I am faced with my GTX 470 at the momemnt is crashing in game with artefacts.
It doens't give me any explanation as to why it crashed. It has done this in Crysis, Aliens vs Predator and Heaven Benchmark 2.1 - I have tried a clean driver sweep and a reinstall of the latest version by Nvidia but my problem still goes on. Temparatures are fine, nothing to be concerned about it also has not been over-clocked.

Is it possible to get a re-fund on the product from you and then pay the rest of the amount towards an EVGA GTX 570?
I have been issued an RMA number but I do not want a replacement ASUS GTX 470, I would want the newer version that is the GTX 570 by EVGA if that is possible. (My Ref RMA number is RMA 235736)

    Thank you for your support,
    Danny

Exclamation Re: 2nd GTX 470 from SCAN having major problems. (1410 Errors, OCCT) - Very unhappy!

Also, my previous replacement of the GTX 470 from SCAN.
    How was it replaced exactly?
Was it a brand new card given to me, was the cooler replaced or was I given a new chip or whatever.
Because I feed I am being given another card said to be faulty that you received from another customer.

If I send my current card back I want a brand new and sealed package. I don't want anyone to look inside the box or anything just a brand new product which was what I should have received in the first place. If not, you may have a customer not willing to return and purchase from SCAN any more.

I would like this information given as soon as possible please,
    Thank you.

Re: 2nd GTX 470 from SCAN having major problems. (1410 Errors, OCCT) - Very unhappy!

Is it possible for someone at Scan to make an official statement on how new goods should look like when they are received as this is not the only thread implying that "NEW" products (specifically graphics cards) received from Scan are not "Security Sealed" with no signs of the item being opened beforehand.

On a positive note, I had a faulty XFX Black Edition 260 from Scan and they did allow me to return it for a full refund and also shipped me an XFX GTX 280 which arrived before they had received my GTX 260 return... very good service Scan :-)

Re: 2nd GTX 470 from SCAN having major problems. (1410 Errors, OCCT) - Very unhappy!

They really should do though to be honest because it can br very misleading.
I doubt they would do that in my situation though right?
I don't want anothet 470 though thats the thing. I requested a 570 instead but as the price difference I said I would pay it off but they didnt seem to like it I dont think unless they change their view as this is my second faulty card..

I think from experience before with the other replacement the next one will be faulty too. If that is the case I will bring forward the idea of a Gtx 570 instead of another 470.

Great news about your card though, same situation with me really but I wasn't aware of the fault in the time i had to request a re-fund.. :/

I hope it gets sorted. Nothing but problems with the Gtx 470 for me.

    Regards, Danny

That's a very strange (or suspect) comment.
To expect a card to be faulty in the hope of changing to a different spec would set alarm bells ringing for me if i was the retailer.

I dont agree with you on this but I can certainly understand where you are coming from.

Hypothetically speaking, If you had received 2 identical cards and they both report the same errors then would you want another one and have any confidence that it will work. Personally, I think I would expect it to fail as well.... that was certainly my impression with my pre-overclocked XFX Black Edition.. after that I decided never to buy factory-overclocked cards again as I do not think they go through enough real-world testing..

I have never had a bad experience with Asus equipment mind you.. is it possible that a batch of Asus cards were all manufactured incorrectly and unfortunately Scan have this batch ?

Maybe send a different brand GTX 470 would be a fair compromise, if the 570 option is a non-starter?

I was just saying from the 2 cards I have had.. I have had problems with both of them.
I had alot of confidence getting a replacement the first time I RMA'd the card but when it started giving me problems again. The confidence of the next replacement working fine for me is minimal.

I don't know why you would be worried or would my position set alarm bells if you where a retailer?
That I do not understand. If you had a faulty product.. You got it replaced and it came back faulty again, would you have any thought that the next replacement would be faulty too? Or would you think it would be all fine and working. I think there would be some sort of doubt that it might have problems again.

Also I wouldn't want to settle with another brand, maybe an EVGA but if I was to buy an Nvidia card like I have it would be either ASUS or EVGA.

Hello, can a member of staff from SCAN tell me how the replacements are handled?
Will I be given a brand new unit of the ASUS GTX 470 or just the same unit with a replaced f an or something?

    Thanks,
    Regards, Danny
