Your error here is that you are using the 3yr warranty to calculate the compensation. It isnt it is the 6yrs that should be used to calculate compensation??

No, If I had £1 for every person that mis quoted the 6 years, I'm sorry but that part of your post is entirely wrong. 6 years is the time limit in which you can bring a case to a judge in a UK court, nothing else.
After 6 months legally unless you can provide evidence that the item contained an inherant fault present from the date of sale, then you actually have no legal right to redress at all.
If Consumer Direct have quoted you the above about the 6 years, then we really do need to worry about the mis advice they are clearly providing !!!
P.S. No im not any relation to Austin.
Sorry Wesley but i dont totally agree with you here.
The 6 yrs is the timeperiod that you can redress, but is also used as a guage of how long electrical items SHOULD last.
To be honest I would expect any electrical equipment to last a lot longer than 3 yrs.
Even with your 3yrs minus 2yrs warranty to calculate the compensation I cant get as low as £32+VAT
The board was around £250 when new.
My main issue here is just to replace the board with anything that I can use so that my media centre will run.
Do you have any suggestions as to a board and how much it would be??
Regards
Kev
Im trying my best to find you anything that would be suitable but honestly i'm struggling, I checking through all of our old stock to see if there is anything that would work for you, so far it's a no go, but I am still looking.
P.S. You originally paid £145.89 for the board, so just over £100 less than you thought.
Bloody hell, think my old age of 40 is letting me down.
Not bad for £145.89.
Ok I have had a look at your site and i can see that a LOT of the boards have a lot less slots.
I can loose 2 slots and sell my ASUS Xonar with its daughter board.
As long as the motherboard does optical SPDIF
So i just need a slot for the GTX280.
One for the TV tuner card and 1 for the satelite card. It only has 1 HD in there so
My memory is DDR2 though and an oldish socket 775 core2quad Q9660 (i think anyway)
Many thanks for trying to help and appologies if i have seemed a bit angry amongst this. Just miffed at Asus really. Dont know how they can do this to consumers. Supose the preasure of new technology as there cash cow FAR outweighs looking after your older products!!
PS I think both my hauppuage cards are PCI and not PCIe (will check this later when i can open the system back up)

I may be able to find a board since your revised needs, it would just be a bare board though, with No IO shield, Manual, Drivers ETC.
If this is ok, let me know and I will get it tested before going any further.
Wesley
High Wesley.
IO shield doesnt matter, as for drivers as long as i can get some online somewhere i dont mind that. Not bothered about manual.
I will confirm tonight about the boards i have going in it. Then we can get things sorted.
Many thanks for your help

Kev
Ok, I have found a board which may be ok for you and most of the accessories are there, even the IO Shield !
It is an Asus Maximus Formula board, will this suit.
Hi Wesley,
That would be fantastic, fingers crossed it works!!
Really apreciate the effort on this. I am sure the family will just love having everything back again. It has all been sorely missed.
If you can send it to my work address that is registered with you at scan, ie the 4 cable court address Preston.
many MANY thanks for this

Kev
Hi Kev,
The board passed our quick tests just fine, I will arrange for this to be sent to you now.
Wesley
Hi Wesley,
Great stuff. Look forward to receiving this so that i can build the system back up. No more ear ache of the misses lol.
Many thanks

Kev
Hi Wesley,
Got the board yesterday and when i opened it up at home i notice that this board is for a water cooled system??
I dont run watercooling
It also states it is for ATI crossfire use. I use a GTX280 so no ATI
Is there any way i can use this board??
If you can ask your technical team if there is anything that i can do to maybe put fans to the water cooled chip and that i can run an Nvidia GTX280 in it. Dont want to build it up to turn it on and fry it.
Regards
Kev
AIstudio,
The card will work fine and the watercooling does not need to be connected, this is optional.
Wesley
Fantastic news.
Just didnt want to run it and fry it.
many thanks will be sorting this when i get home then.
Regards
Kev
Hi Wesley
Just to put a nice end to this thread. Installed everything and set the machine back up with all the TV cards etc. Now have Media Portal and everything running fine again.
Would just like to say thanks for everything and we have a happy home again.
Regards
Kev
