Yesterday my computer made a loud "pop" during a gaming session, and promptly turned off. The cat was scared and there was a burnt smell. The computer no longer turns on and I'm pretty sure my power supply (Seasonic X-650) has died. There's no motherboard light, the burning smell seemed to come from here, and a piece of ceramic has appeared inside (presumably blown off of something and too large to have gotten inside the PSU). I'm concerned about the rest of the PC components but haven't been able to test them yet.

The PSU and most of the computer components were purchased in august last year from SCAN. I sent an email to enquire about the RMA process, and was promptly sent an RMA number. This is fine, but I've been told that any components damaged by the blown PSU would only be covered with scansure.

I have also been told that I will have to pay to return the PSU myself "due to the length of time [I] have had the product". I was wondering how normal this is, from reading other threads it seems some people have had the return covered by scan. Just some clarification about what qualifies me for free delivery would be great.

I'm a big fan of scan and was understandably shocked that such a high quality PSU would fail so quickly into its life.
