Failing fans...

Morning all,

Got a problem with the products on the order mentioned. They have started to fail (I've had one replaced thanks to ChrisP) but I have two more which are now failing.

Usually I would simply package them up for RMA, but they are in the switches which are at the centre of my home network (4 are in one switch, one in another) and ideally I'd like to change them all given their propensity to fail. (3 out of the 5 original ones have failed).

Can someone give me a headsup on the best way to proceed? Order new fans and RMA the old ones for a refund?

What is the positon on replacing all the fans on the order? I notice the RMA is only for the two that are now failing.

4 of them are in one switch so I'd prefer their performance characteristics to match (that and if 3 out of 5 have failed in the first 12 months, how long are the others going to last?) The other is on its own in another switch, though again, my concern is over longevity.

I have been advised that we can only offer direct warranty replacements for the fans that have failed on the order.

Ah, not ideal.

Can the warranty replacements be for different fans? So the two I am returning be exchanged/refunded and new fans of a different make be supplied?

If that is the case then I'd probably order 2 more fans and keep the surplus working ones as spares.

The fans are virtually 12 months old, replacements will be like for like, we have stock and so would be identical replacements.
