    msi 570gtx dead again :-/.

    Hi,

    I posted here originally: forums.hexus.net/scan-care-hexus/227109-msi-gtx570-doa.html

I got a replacement on Saturday, installed it, was working fine... Been playing all my games for hours on end with no problem Skyrim, SWTOR, etc, then went to play swtor just now.. machine blue screened and is now presenting with the same problem (dots and now bluescreens). I can't get into windows, I can't even get into safe mode. :-/. Posting on this new account on my fiance's laptop because I can't be bothered swapping to my spare gfx card and also because I can't be bothered getting my USB key for my keepass stuff .

On and off when I checked the temps it was only displaying about 55c-60c.. I have a HAF932 so I wouldn't expect airflow to be a problem - it's also a twin frozr!!.. Also, with a 750w power supply so power shouldn't really be an issue either. I'm at a bit of a loss, so to me it's just suggestive of a bad load of boards. Some reviews on newegg seem to confirm that a few people had this problem after a time of running with the card.

As I live in Liverpool I wouldn't really want to return all the way to Bolton three weeks on the run (also have other commitments that I'm putting off to go..) is there anyway I can get it picked up and looked at?

As you can imagine.. Pretty frustrated. It was my birthday present, so ... yeah... lol. My luck royally sucks.

Re: msi 570gtx dead again :-/.

    Forgot to add last night..

    - Ran the card at stock levels. No OC beyond the already stock OC on it.
    - Would be willing to pay the delivery back and stuff .

If you need to PM me probably best on my other account so I can reply, I'll have my comp back up and running tonight and don't have my USB stick with keepass on in the office.

I'm at a loss as I've taken everything into consideration so I have been doing some reading/researching (albeit on my phone, fiance was playing SWTOR on his laptop >_>) and there's been a lot about the VRM's in the 570s not being enough; 4 phase instead of 8 phase and being on a (rumoured to be) 580 PCB. I believe MSI tried to rectify the problem with the 570 twin frozr iii by adding extra VRM phases but it seems nvidia in general just slap dashed the 570 together (if you can call such a thing slap dash - wouldn't be the first time nvidia done this ). Any thoughts?

Hi sorry to hear about the problems you are having

Having looked at the invoice you have provided it does not seem to be a replacement invoice, i.e. did you get a refund on the original card then purchase another or is the card in question a free of charge replacement?

Also as the goods were purchased originally over the counter you would either need to return to the store in person OR if this is not possible return the goods to SCAN at your own cost.

We can arrange a collection for the goods however the cost for this collection would be deducted from your refund once the goods are returned and confirmed to be faulty if you would prefer not to have a replacement card.

Please advise how you would like to proceed.

    Regards

    Hi Mark,

Sorry, I had two invoices. I must have copied the number from the wrong one (the original I'm guessing). I went into the store on Saturday and it was confirmed faulty. I got a replacement with a replacement invoice number. I will sort that out with the correct number and PM you with it tonight.

Yes, I would rather have a refund I think and then contemplate whether to go up to the 580 or move to (gulp) ATI at next pay day!

I don't mind the cost of the pick up being deducted from that, happy to take the hit rather than another drive to Bolton and back providing the pick up is not like £50 or something .
