Two bad PSUs from Scan (Fan noise)

    Hi,

I ordered an Antec HCG-400 (Invoice: 00E1835958) a few months ago and it's developed this rattling, clicking noise over time. Lately it was getting worse and really annoying me, I want to return it but I needed another PSU to run in that computer. So I ordered a Corsair CX430 and today (the day after I received it) it's developed a horrible noise, it sounds like the fan is hitting against something inside the power supply.

So now I have two power supplies with fan issues that both need to be returned. I just want a silent PSU to run a low power machine 24/7.

I have made videos of both the power supplies to show they are faulty:
    Corsair - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF0qrLBY0TE
    Antec - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6scYsewrlp4

The Antec is harder to hear, it's a clicking noise that really does your head in after a while. The Corsair is obvious and unbearable, but after I hit it on the side it's stopped, I don't want to have to keep hitting it to make it work properly though.

Seen as you have sent me two faulty power supplies and a faulty hard drive within 3 months (I returned the hard drive, Invoice: 00E1865744), is it possible for me to set up an RMA for these power supplies and receive a replacement at the same time they are picked up? I honestly don't care what power supply I have, as long as it's reliable and silent. I need one to power my secondary machine and it's extremely frustrating that both of these have fan problems.

    Hi,

Unfortunately advance replacement is not something we offer.

We can of course collect the Antec/Corsair units. The Antec unit would be replaced under warranty rather than refunded due to the length of time since the original invoice date. The Corsair unit can be refunded enabling you to purchase your replacement in advance.

    Regards

Ok I will do as you say and send them both back, get a replacement for the Antec and a refund for the Corsair. Can you set up the RMA or do you want me to submit an RMA request? Also can you give an estimate as to how long the warranty replacement for the Antec would take? Do you need to send the PSU back to the manufacturer once you receive it?

    Thanks.

Please submit an RMA request via the following link: https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/sup...px?QueryType=R

Turnaround currently is 3 - 5 working days, providing the Antec PSU in question is one we currently hold stock of it should just be a case of a straight swap for you.

    Regards

Re: Two bad PSUs from Scan (Fan noise)

I got a refund for the Corsair and a replacement for the Antec. I haven't had the Antec replacement very long and it's already developing the exact same rattling/clicking noise. Is is possible for me to swap this model for another reliable PSU around the same price that is quiet? All I need is a quiet power supply that can power a low end machine and I don't want to end up with another one of these rattling HCG-400s.
