    Blue Screening...

    Hi Guys,

I purchased this bundle some time ago and everything was fine and running as expected, however I am receiving 2/3 blue screens a day now and I have not touched any of the overclock settings that were in place for me. I am running a core temp to monitor the CPU temps and they don't seem to be overheating at all. Its bizarre.

Is there anything I can do to log what is causing the blue screen?

    Re: Blue Screening...

Thanks guys, I got both of those and installed. My comp just blue screened and I held button down to restart after a few seconds. However, I log back in and no crash dumps are found when I hit analyse?

    Re: Blue Screening...

    sinbeast,

Are you able to visually check the Blue Screen error codes for us and write them down?

The errors should be along the lines of: 0x101 etc.

Also please download memtest from www.memtest.org and run this on the machine, it could be a faulty stick of RAM causing the issue.

    Kind regards,

Windows may be setup to not save a crash dump file. This needs to be changed like his.

Ty, I will enable that when I get home, install memtest and I will also mess around on the comp to manually check the BSOD.

Tried this, its talking about ISO files and booting it up from an ISO, no clue how to do this as thats a program you pay for apparently. Is there a .exe file anywhere to run this with?

    Hi,

Download and install imgburn from this link: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

This will allow you to burn the image file you have downloaded from the memtest website to a blank CD.

    Regards

    Re: Blue Screening...

Also open up task manager ctrl+alt+delete key if you're not too experienced its a bit long winded but go down the list and put all of the processes into google and see what the processes relate to.

You could also select a a process in task manager and stop them one at a time. Stop a process and carry on using your PC if after doing this you don;t get the blue screen of death it could be the process that's causing the problem. Google it and look for a solution.

Bear in mind that you when you do this that really you should disconnect from the internet as if you turn off a process you may turn off a process that leaves your computer vulnerable.

The fact that it says something about an ISO is intriguing - I'd check the BIOS as well. I wonder if there is a hidden partition on your PC - some manufacturers put a hidden partition so that you can restore to factory setting - I'd go into the Bios and see if there's a special option to boot of this.

On Wed 7/11/2012 8:49:10 PM GMT your computer crashed
    crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: Unknown ()
    Bugcheck code: 0x101 (0x31, 0x0, 0xFFFFF88003165180, 0x2)
    Error: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
Bug check description: This indicates that an expected clock interrupt on a secondary processor, in a multi-processor system, was not received within the allocated interval.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. This problem might be caused by a thermal issue.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: Unknown .
    Google query: Unknown CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT

    second one

On Wed 7/11/2012 9:55:10 PM GMT your computer crashed
    crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: hal.dll (hal!HalBugCheckSystem+0x1E3)
    Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA8008840028, 0xBE000000, 0x800400)
    Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
    file path: C:\Windows\system32\hal.dll
    product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
    company: Microsoft Corporation
    description: Hardware Abstraction Layer DLL
Bug check description: This bug check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred. This bug check uses the error data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA).
This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem problem. This problem might be caused by a thermal issue.
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system which cannot be identified at this time.

I dont have any blank CD's, I appreciate the response here and know you are trying to help, but is there a way to run something similar on the actual desktop like a straight forward setup/install file that I can then start the memtest while in windows? Any ideas on the above crash dump?

    Re: Blue Screening...

If you are using Windows 7 you can try the Memory Diagnostic tool, find it under Administration Tools which you can find in the Control Panel

    Re: Blue Screening...

Also if you have a spare usb key, this will install memtest direct to the usb key then you can run from usb on startup and run memtest.

    http://www.memtest.org/download/4.20....installer.zip

    Hope that helps.

    Re: Blue Screening...

Thanks but I need to mess around with BIOS settings apparently to allow this to boot up, wouldn't be up for doing that. This is doing my head in now, hopefully someone can spot something in those crash reports I don't want to be buying blank cd's and changing bios settings at this point.
