    Tech Support Query Response Time

Hi Scan Guys, I raised a "tech support" ticket this morning for this issue but I have had no response. I don't know what the expected response time is so I am just posting here in the hope that someone can pick this up and check that my query was actually logged. If someone can get back to me that would be great. My ticket was given an ID:OLQ1061868.

    Thanks.

Re: Tech Support Query Response Time

Hi, I did enter the invoice number on the query that has the reference number mentioned on my original post. Could you not find that query using that reference ?

Unfortunately I am away from my files at the moment so I can't recall the invoice number. I will get it for you next week if you can't use the above reference.

    Thanks.

Re: Tech Support Query Response Time

Scan's tech/sales support crew are great, not sure what happened in your case but I emailed them earlier and got a response within an hour. Emailed them back and fourth, checked timestamps; around half an hour between each email.
Gotta show some love towards Lee and Carl Horan

Re: Tech Support Query Response Time

    Hi,

The number provided does not have the item in question on it. Can you please re-check the details or provide the manufactures serial number for the item in question.

In addition from your query the item in question is an 512mb XFX 9800GT, XFX cards carry a 24 month warranty. I would suggest by the age of the card in question it was most certainly be over 2 years old.

    Regards

Re: Tech Support Query Response Time

Hi Mark, yes very sorry I misquoted the invoice number. It is 1571073 and the order number is 0404091425. The card is indeed what you said and (from the Scan paperwork) the s/n is 5212496525. I expect it is out of warranty - if it is then can you suggest a replacement please ?

Re: Tech Support Query Response Time

    Hi,

From the invoice number you have provided I can confirm the original invoice date was April 2009, as such I can confirm it is out of warranty unfortunately. It terms of replacement I would suggest a NVIDIA GTX560 or up as a modern alternative to the card purchased originally.

    Regards

Hi, I really know very little about video cards. Are there any reasonable single slot ones available these days ? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks...

Re: Tech Support Query Response Time

Today I took the card out of the case and inspected it once more. There are several blown caps on it. I think that's probably why it isn't working. Now do I attempt to replace them or just buy a new card ?

I have done some research and am surprised to see many posts about this happening and XFX being notorious for using crap capacitors on their boards. What do you, scan, think of this? Given I bought a high end 3xs system I am surprised if this is true.

I thought I'd get the EVGA 4Gb GTX670 but I read similar stories about EVGA. Now I don't know what to do....

I have some photos but can't seem to upload them here...?

Upload the images to somewhere like imgur or photobucket then just copy the link / image code to your post.

Re: Tech Support Query Response Time

Just to close this out, I opted for the 4GB EVGA.

    LN45146 4 GB EVGA GTX 670 Superclocked, 28nm, PCIe 3.0 (x16), 6008MHz GDDR5, GPU 967MHz, Boost 1046MHz, Cores 1344, DVI , DP, HDMI

Oh, and I never did get that call from scan. ordered anyways. a bit disappointed with the pre-sales service though....

Re: Tech Support Query Response Time

    Starfry,

Let me first apologise for us missing this.

Mark did pass it through for someone in sales to deal with, but with the system outages we had over the 2 days after this was requested it caused havoc with our workflows, and this was overlooked.

In the future, drop me a PM with a contact number if you need any advice and I'll happily contact you when I'm free to give you a bit more help and assistance.

    Best Regards,
