also does this run from batterys?

does the usb work on input too from pc?

thinking about getting this as birthday present for my mum

Yup, I'd go with the res MrP stated.

Seems like they're generic screens with a different bezel (on all budget models)
I got the Cibox a while back and it runs only from mains (I think they all do apart from the more expensive models)
You'll need to crop photos or resize them to avoid distortions (screen is 16:10) - it's a relatively easy process really. I can let you know if needed.

I'd recommend going for a screen with a greater resolution than that. The Philips ones are very good.

Yup they are nice but they also cost a lot more.
It does depend on your budget but the Cibox one I got does a good job of photos. As long as you're 3ft or more away from the screen, people tend to hold it in their hands and complain about the pixels.
