    Hi,

I was considering getting the Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B Heatpipe CPU Cooler but don't know if this will fit.

The problem with the Freezer Pro 7 is the edge of the fins catch as well as the fan stopping it from sitting on the CPU correctly, I was seeing temps of almost 50 degrees on idle with an E6700 which had much lower temps on the Badaxe board I have borrowed it from with the Freezer Pro 7 sat correctly.

    Hi,

I ended up getting a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, I have had to mount it so it will be blowing air towards the top of my case but as I am putting it in an Antec P182 I do not see this being a problem.

I got a Scythe S-Flex 1600RPM fan to attach to it too, just need to check the temps of my QX6850 once I have Vista installed!

Mounting the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme so it is blowing upwards is no problem at all in the Antec p182, infact it may even provide better temps as hot air tends to naturally rise as it becomes less dense Your temps should be extremely low with the thermalright and a S-flex. Using TAT I get 28 idle and 46 load using my e6600, Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme and all Yate Loon D12-SL fans running at 7V (About 1000rpm) in my Antec P180.

I also just built my system and am running Vista. One thing I would recommend you do straight away is to disable UAC as it is extremely annoying and can cause program incompatabilities with Vista. Now that I have it disabled, every single program I had on XP works just as good or even better in Vista

I have also disabled system restore, which has helped free up a lot of space on my hard drive that system restore normally reserves. I now use Acronis True Image to make Images of my hard drive for backups.

    Have a look at this:
    http://blogs.pcapex.com/node/65

I have disabled UAC, System Restore and the Windows Sidebar. However, I have left the Indexing Service enabled as I find the Search function quite useful for looking for files that I have lost

    Hi,

I've been using Vista for some time on my other PC's with UAC enabled and not had any issues, Just hoping that the third P182 to come from Scan is not damaged like the other two.

PC is currently built on an Akasa Mirage mobo tray on the worktop, looking at the CPU temp in the bios it was sat around 34 degrees.

It does seem to be extermily quiet compared to my last PC which is a major bonus as the other one became quite annoying when on the phone it got so loud!

I use it on a P5K and it fits fine. However the P5K deluxe wifi board has an extra heatsink on the right hand side of the cpu socket so this must be the reason it wont fit.

There seems to be yet more confusion, FPSMAD, I have a P5K Deluxe/Wifi-AP and the Freezer Pro 7 fits perfectly.

The board it wont fit on is the P5K3 which is the DDR3 board.

If yours is the P5K you will be fine. Its clear on all sides but is close to some of the regulators.

    Wahey there is hope.

Can you be an absolute star and post a piccy showing to all that it fits ?

I shall love you forever if you could, only reason I ask as I just trial fitted the Artic Cooler and it is veryyyyyyyyyyyyy close to the top heatsink on the mobo as it is, I dont want to try fitting it only to find it does not fit snug on the CPU as then I cant send it back :/

    Thanks matey
