Hi guys,
Just reveived e-mail saying NFF on my card,
this is the response from Scan returns.................
"I guess I can leave it overnigh. TBH - this is two different tests - two different boards - different O/S - different games - DX10 and 9c - the card is fine. Whatever is causing it is isn't the card. And I doubt it is incompatible. An open bench is worse than a case. The heat can't go anywhere, it kinda sits in a pocket and they get hotter and hotter. At least in a case there are fans shifting and circulating the air.
Scan diagnosis Ran Colin McRae Dirt as requested - did a few laps then left the recorded demo looping all day. It has been on for at least 5 hours now without a break. Tried all the different camera angles. All Gfx settings are the max possible and 1280*1024. AirCon is off - it is roasting in the room today - no need to put it in a case. That isn't feasable anyway. The card is blowing some serious heat out of the fan so I know it is well and truly loaded."
Well I appreciated that you have done alot of testing on this card for me, thank you.
However can you
1) Test with higher resolutions please ? as its at higher resolutions that I have the problems 1680x1050 is the only res that I use - not 1280*1024 which isn't gonna push that card hard enough. I get 60+ fps at 1680x1050 in dirt so 1280X1024 will not be stressing as hard.
2) Can you monitor the temps and tell me what temp it reached duing you testing ? Because for me its always frozen when the temps go over 85-90'c. If you haven't reached those temps then it won;t freeze.
I disagree when you say the problem isn't heat, because if I've set the fan manually in Rivatuner over 85% it never has frozen. Just assuming the card is being stressed by heat coming out of the back isn't right, as it runs hot all the time - even idling you can feel the heat comin gout of the back.
Also the recorded demo isn't the same as the game and doubt if it would cause the game to freeze TBH.
I'm sorry to be awkward but i've tested this card on x2 system myself and in both instances it has frozen at some point - when the temp goes 85-90c i'm sure.
Any further help will be much appreciated guys, that card has been driving me nuts for weeks now
