    System spec's - please comment

    Hi scan people!
My friend is looking to build a new PC and I am checking it over with him first. I have built some nice spec gaming PCs from here before and was hoping to get it perfect first time as smooth as possible.

Here is the message from my friend:

I’m building a brand new gaming rig. i was hoping for advice on these system spec's (below)

is the memory a good match with this mobo (i don’t want 1066mhz ram)

will the power supply fit the case? (Im am reasonable sure it will from my research so far, however has anyone had experience with either this case or power supply? ) has anyone had any experience with this mobo / power supply combo?

will this water cooling be adequate? (for Q6600 g0) will there be issue with fitting it into the case?

Availability ( SCAN please help ???).

some items are currently out of stock:

    LN18371 Alphacool Cool Answer Compact
LN17484 400 Gb Seagate ST3400620NS Barracuda ES (need 2 of these)

do you know when these items will be in stock? I am desperate to buy this system (if its all good) and its only these items that are that are unavailable. Please please please help - (going mad without a gaming rig to play on).

    LN19488
    Intel Core 2 Quad-Core Q6600

    LN16492
    EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 NF680i SLI

Personally, I'd get an ASUS motherboard. Other than that, your system is very similar to the one I'm typing this on now.
I'm wondering why you feel you need a SLI board? I take the view that by the time you need a second GTX, you should probably just drop another brand new card in there in the single slot.

    The dates we currently have for the out of stock items is as follows ;

LN18371 - Showing as 7th Sept but they are coming from the continent so they might be running a few days late.

LN17484 - No ETA from any of the suppliers at the present time.

Other than that the rest of the equipment looks fine and should build a very good gaming system overall

    Best Regards,

    The memory is fine.

The cooling is more than adequte.. G0's will hit 3.4 or more on Air

Samsung Dvd writers seem to operate quieter than most if thats a concern.. also make sure you get a SATA dvd writer.

Hmmm. Why would one get a SATA optical drive? Surely the writer is so slow a faster interface is wasted?

    neater cabling.
Also on boards with 965/P35 chipsets it saves hassles having to deal with the crappy JMicron controllers that many use.

Theres also generally only about a quid difference in price too, so it makes sense.

Why a 850W PSU? That should need no more then 600-650W at full load. I say go down to a 620W Corsair or CM
