    My Current Order

    Hi All at Scan,

I'm unfortunately sorry to write this but must mention my dismay at receiving a 160 Gb HGST (Hitachi-0Y30006) Deskstar T7K250 SATA2 (LN11176) hard drive wrapped in bubble wrap only and then packed with everything else (small items, one exception) in a City Link parcel polythene bag. Now you can understand the amount of knocks that drive would have had just on the way to me.

To be frank I've never seen anything like this, having ordered several hard drives from different suppliers but this being the first from Scan I expected the hard drive to have been enclosed in a box with polythene/sponge foam as have in the past. May I ask is this standard procedure?

Finally, with regards to the hard drive mentioned above it says 'Made in China for Hitachi', now I have come across several websites that saying that there are two versions of this drive one specifically built for Hitachi as is the one I have received and the other being built by Hitachi, saying 'Made in China by Hitachi'. As a general, it seems that the concensus is that the drives made by Hitachi are quieter. So Scan, do you have any of these drives in stock that say Made by Hitachi?

Sorry to ramble on but I await your prompt reply, thanks again for your service.

    Re: My Current Order

Sorry but we cannot really guarantee what the "made in" text would say on the drives and this is because we order and get the drives supplied to us from more than 1 active supplier.

As such we always have the possibility of having a "mixed batch" in stock and this is why we cannot state which one you would get.

In regards to the packaging of the drives - we've been vetted by a hard-drive manufacturer and the packing and transit have been deemed fine for them.

    Best Regards,
