My sad story...
Wednesday 3rd Oct circa 6.30 am I spotted a VGA card listed 256MB XFX 7900GT 520MHZ - Link Number 13916
OK its one of the 79xx EOL type series as its just recently been added and will no doubt go fast.
So, I prompty ordered it online checking out 06.40
Invoice printed 09.38 and payment auth 09.45
so far so good
check item still listed as in stock
it is!
great!
check later that day, item still listed in stock... delivery set for friday
weds evening comes, item as pre order
next day its de listed
despatch time comes and goes
i receive a 'delayed to warehouse volume' mail thurs evening
ok np... its just delayed right?
so today i send a follow up mail and get a 'oh thats out of stock now and EOL' reply
wonderful
If its not possible to phone up the instant Scan opens in the morning to order it, (does this even guarantee stock allocation??) then how can we guarantee to get one of the EOL items?
Anyway I responded thus by mail:

Well this item showed in stock at time of order and right through until the afternoon following placement of order. I ordered circa 6.40 am and invoice printed at 9.38am payment auth at 9.45am.
I am quite unhappy to have lost out on this item thru vague stock control and now having waited almost 3 days without the correct information being given to me, am now told that the item is unavailable.
I am sure you can understand my disappointment.
Out of interest could you please confirm actually how many of these cards you had in stock and at what time the last one was confirmed as sold?
Then perhaps you can suggest a way that I can order items such as the EOL VGA cards so that I can receive them and not be disappointed?
It seems I have no option but to cancel this order for full refund.
I look forward to hearing your replies and receiving confirmation of refund.

Perhaps we can have a definitive response as to when stock is actually allocated to an order?
When its a normal line ok we wait and it comes back in, but for this EOL stuff its far more critical to know.
Please please tell us how we can confidently order these items without disapointments and frustrations?
