Finally got my 3870: Wrong Card!!!!

I ordered a Powercolour PCS 3870 (LN20748). The one delivered is a standard version without the better cooler and faster clock speed. So I am not sure what to do, it's not what I ordered, I wanted the better cooler to save me spending extra on an aftermarket one and voiding the warranty.

I would just like to know how a new heatsink would void the warranty? How can they tell it has been replaced if you simply put the stock cooler back on before sending it in if something does happen to go wrong?

In any case people don't put on new heatsinks to give worse cooling, I mean what numpty would do that really?

If you take it off, and then bork the card whilst installing the new one, should that be covered by warranty? I don't think so somehow.

Also to add salt in the wound: Power Color HD3870 PCS 512MB GDDR4 256bit 800/2400Mhz Dual DVI PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer The correct card, cheaper and instock as well!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

yeah im in the same boat as these guys,recieved the standard version and i bet by the time its sorted ebuyer will have run out of stock just have to wait for a replacement i guess

Exactly!

If it has been wrongly advertised and you have received the wrong card then Scan should pick up the item and refund or send out the correct one.

By the looks of it, it is a fault on Scans part not the customer... obviously Scan wouldn't have done this on purpose, it would have just been simple human error - and yes it does happen!
