AMD Data change...Update new data to DMI

    Hi guys,

I bought an abit mobo from Scan a couple of months ago and have only just got wrong to trying to sort it out.
Im using an amd 4850 chip and 4 gig corsair ram in the board.

I got the message : Data change...Update new data to DMI on boot!
and then I try to install windows. Windows installs fine but as soon as it starts up properly it erros and restarts then wont boot again. I have tried a few different versions of windows but the problem still persists.

Flashed the Bios to the latest version but the same thing happens again.

Have you guys heard of this problem before? is there a simple solution or is it likely to be a borked board?

    Cheers

Re: AMD Data change...Update new data to DMI

I have a similar setup to yours and get the same message.
Strangely, mine occasionally responds `update success` at boot.
It happens to newer AMD chips only apparently, and can be ignored as it doesn`t cause any problems.
More info if you google it, but there are no fixes, just the annoying message at boot.
I think your problems lie elsewhere. Have a look through your BIOS.

Re: AMD Data change...Update new data to DMI

The bios all seems to be set correctly.. I might try swapping ram over etc but its strange that Windows installs fine but reboots almost instantly then wont start again.
I have tried to hard drives already.

Posts I`ve seen about this message from other ppl seem to have had similar issues and said that they flashed the bios and disabled DMI but I cant find any option for that.

The DMI setting is in the FlashMenu Utility under settings. Its helpfull to disable the clear CMOS setting as well.
    I`ve tried this `fix` but didn`t help.

Re: AMD Data change...Update new data to DMI

Ah, the FlashMenu is an App, only available from within the OS, so atm you can`t get to it.
TBH, I don`t think this is your problem anyway.
Can you boot into Safe Mode?
2 or 4 sticks of ram?....tried different combinations?
Do you get any error codes?
    Tried clearing CMOS?
Does your bios change any settings after the boot fail?
