    RMA Enermax PSU

Hello, my PC is shutting itself down at random times, it's not overheating and I'm quite sure it's not the ram.
My next stop would be the PSU, it was bought from scan on 19/10/2006, is it still under warrantly? Also how will you go about testing it? As the problem is random (it can go for 12+ hrs with no problem then go through a series of shutting itself down every ~minute for 10-15mins or so, it's completely random, so what I don't want is to send it to you, then you don't find a fault and I have to pay the fee.

    Thanks a lot.

Can't you try a mates PSU to see if the problem happens again? If it doesn't then it could very well be your PSU.

That would indeed be the best thing to do but unfortunately that isn't really an option for me :/

    Re: RMA Enermax PSU

Bump? I've got a replacement motherboard and still having the problem.

I've started the PC with only cpu, ram and psu and it will still randomly shutdown. It's not the ram as I've tried several sticks.

Have you tried submitting a support ticket here?

Probably the quickest way of getting an answer.

    Re: RMA Enermax PSU

If its RMA for the PSU, go to straight to Enermax for it.
They are pretty quick and the unit definitely has a 3 year warranty.

Thanks Blitzen. How quick's pretty quick? And do they have a UK based RMA address?

    Re: RMA Enermax PSU

Ach.. well that brings me back to SCAN. I'm just looking for some form of reassurance with the RMA procedure, and how you would go about testing a PSU which appears to be faulty - yet works for a good portion of time. Like I said the problem appears at random times, I've tested everything but the PSU and CPU but I'm convinced this is a PSU problem. Can someone from SCAN please advise!

    Thanks

All returns quieries will be answered if you log here http://web6.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Suppor...px?QueryType=R

We are very busy at the moment but log queries from our site are priority.

Enermax PSU's have a 3 year warranty and Scan will accept the return

    Regards

On average, how long do you take to respond to a returns query logged at the website link?

    Re: RMA Enermax PSU

Hopefully faster than the 3 weeks it took to get a reply here. Granted I possibly should've logged a query direct, but seeing as most topics here got answered promptly, I thought I'd try here.

I didn't even get an answer to my question of what the testing procedure would be, and how they would go about testing such an intermittent fault.

    Re: RMA Enermax PSU

Well it's definately knackered. Got hold of a psu tester, lo and behold it would switch off and fire up again. Will be contacting scan via their website.
    cheers.
