Tagan Power Forge PCI-E (Single PSU to VGA Surge Protection)

I notice Scan has been shipping these FREE Tagan Power Forge PCI-E (Single PSU to VGA Surge Protection) devices with gfx cards for a while. Which is nice..

However only 1 is supplied with the gfx cards for the 6 pin pci-e power adapter, whilst nearly all the cards it is supplied with also require a 8 pin pci-e power cable, which is not compatible with the surge protection device. Does this not therefore render the surge protection kind of useless if only 1/2 of the power to the card is surge protected ?

Maybe only the 6pin part of the gfx card needs this filtering/protection, but would it not make sense to offer a 8 pin version too. (I see none are available on the site).

    Thanks..

You are right but considering its free, I'm not going to complain.
I suppose you can just be happy with this on single 6pin PCI GPU's.
