To cut a long story short on Monday I collected a new AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition cpu and a Gigabyte MA790X-UD4 motherboard. I came to install everything and my usb mouse briefly powered up then turned off and the usb keyboard didnt work at all. ISo I tried using the ps2 adaptor which came with the keyboard which worked albeit for a matter of seconds, so I borrowed a ps2 keyboard and that worked.... again very briefly until pressing any key in the bios did strange things like pressing the up arrow brought up "quit without saving"
I returned that motherboard today and got it swapped and have put everything together again but again the usb keyboard and mouse wont work, BUT with the ps2 adaptor on the keyboard it works fine this time, the mouse doesnt work at all though. I managed to start installing Vista using the keyboard and it is very very slow to install. Then when it gets to the "completing installation" screen it throws up the following Blue screen:
Can any of your tech guys shed any light on this without me having to return it again? I cant see it being the cpu thats at fault, maybe a dodgy batch of motherboards? I have a PC Power and Cooling 510w psu and its coped fine with my past setup (X2 6000 and Abit KN9 mobo, everything else as it is now) so I cant see it being a psu issue? My system specs are in my profile and signature.
thanks.
p.s. click on the pic and it should go full size
