    Monitor recommendations and crystal ball

    Hi all,

I have a budget of up to £250 and I'm looking for a 22-24" monitor this month. It will mainly be used for gaming and office work and the occaisonal movie.
I've looked at various models including the Benq G2400WD and E220, the Samsung T240, T220 and I'm reaching overload. Recommendations from a real person would count for a lot.

On a seperate note, given that I am unlikely to upgrade the CPU for the next 3 years would you recommend the i7 920, or would a 9650 based system have the longevity ?

Unable to register with Scan. The page is telling me it doesn't recognise my user ID ?
Update - works if you untick the DV checkbox.

    Thanks

I wouldn't buy anything less than a 120mhz monitor so that it can be used with the 3d glasses? They should be availabe to buy separately soon.

I'm looking at upgrades and I'm going for an i7 920, as it can be overclocked safely (I'm an OC newbie), Socket 1366 will take future CPUs, and if the 920 at stock speed is OK for you know, then you could learn to Overclock over time and slowly increase it's speed as you need it.

As for monitors I understand your being overwhelmed by them! I'm currently leaning towards the Iiyama 24" PLB2409HDS-B for £202. I'm going for 24" Widescreen as that is the equivalent in screen area to upgrading from a 17" 4:3 to a 19" 4:3 which was the usual path. If 22" is sufficient then I have heard good things about the Dell 2209WA. It is one of the cheapest IPS based screens around at £217.

Oh God, another LCD to consider <sobs>
The ilyama looks like a great monitor and £45 cheaper !

I have heard that the IPS is better for colour fidelity, but not so good for gaming. Can anyone confirm ?
