LN24487 Intel SSD Drive: Is this generation 1 or 2?

Can someone check if the following product is G1 or G2 (G=generation)?

    LN24487: SSDSA2MH080G1 - 80GB Intel, SSD, X25-M, MLC-Flash, 2.5", 1 x SATA 3Gb/s, Read 250MB/s, Write 70MB/s
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/80GB-...-s-Write-speed

Ive read that the G1s are crap and cant be firmware updated (i.e. avoid), but the G2s are very good and can be FW upgraded.

I suspect its probably a G2, but because of the serious implications if it turns out to be a G1 I cant buy before checking.

    Thanks!

The one you have linked is the gen 1 this is the gen 2 its the same price just out of stock atm. Also for future ref if you look at the manufacturer code it ends in g1 and the newer gen 2 ends in g2.

Even the "old" G1 beats most any other non-intel SSD in real world usage. Hardly "crap"

Re: LN24487 Intel SSD Drive: Is this generation 1 or 2?

    Dumb question from me.
I've been eyeing up an SSD for some time, but all of the pics are unclear as to scale and connectors.
Those look like fairly standard SATA, power connectors and mounting screws. Can anyone confirm this ? Or do I need some sort of drive bay adaptor ?

Re: LN24487 Intel SSD Drive: Is this generation 1 or 2?

All ssds at the moment are 2.5" or 1.8" standard hard drives are 3.5" so you would need an adapter to fit them in a 3.5" hard drive bay. Something like this

Yeah sorry forgot to add that bit. They use both standard power and sata connectors. Its only slim optical drives that use the mini sata and power adapters. Hope that helps

Re: LN24487 Intel SSD Drive: Is this generation 1 or 2?

Watch out for 1.8" drives. Some of them do have smaller than normal connectors, and getting adapters can be difficult. As these drives are often made specifically for a certain device manufacturer, they have custom connectors. There was a thread recently in the bargain forum about a 1.8" intel drive and how hard it was to get an adapter for it.
