Intel 80Gb G2 SSD?

Hi scan,

Can you confirm when you are due to get stock of the new Intel G2 drives?
I believe the firmware fix has now been officially released by Intel - just wondering how long I have to wait to buy one from you guys

I'm in a bit of a rush - do you have a big backlog for these?

Currently torn between waiting for this or getting the new OCZ 60gb Agility - but can't find any reviews about performance on the Agility drives....

I've got a pre-order - they're currently slated for the 14th I think..

Theres a fault with the drives and their launch has been prostponed.

Edit: See you had alreay mentioned that, but the fault has no doubt affecting the supply of these - because i want one as well

The faults fixed but we'll have a delay whilst the drives find their way back to suppliers i guess - hopefully scan will update us as to when this'll happen

aye but the fix has now been released - it was released on the 11th - yesterday......

anyone from scan answer this please? - Due in on the 14th - but how big a backlog are we looking at please? i.e. if I pre-order today am I likely to be amongst the first batch - sorry but time is of the essence/

thanks - i'm only rushing for a replacement as I've got till wednesday before I have to handover my raptor to the new buyer last thing I want is a PC with no OS! hmmm wonder if I can run WinXPE from my boot CD - lol

At the moment we are aware that people are dying to get their hands on them, but we are just awaiting on an ETA for the new fixed drives to appear from our suppliers.

Can you not just buy yourself a cheapo HDD for an OS or maybe use a Live-CD of Linux !

Even though intel's drives are expensive - i'm still holding out for the best bang for buck.

That doesnt mean one has money to burn, wasting it on drives they don't need......push comes to shove I can make do with an existing drive for OS

- and just like Lee mentioned - "At the moment we are aware that people are dying to get their hands on them" - an update once in a while doesnt hurt but helps keeps customers in the loop.

Ordered mine on the 27th and was getting really impatient waiting for them.....that changed though once I knew I wasn't going to have them on the Win7 release day!

The most annoying thing is Scan might actually get them tomorrow, which means Monday for us, right after the weekend - typical

That's a bit of a gamble too, though, if you're in a hurry. It may be that if limited stock arrives, those with them on pre-order get them and use the entire delivery, and that initial lot never does get as far as showing as in stock. You might get one quicker by waiting to see who gets them first, but you might equally well get them quicker by picking a good store and getting in early on the list. Mind you, it's probably too late for that now, and if loads arrive when they do come in, it probably wont matter anyway.
