    USB3 section

    Hi,

Could I ask if you could possibly have on your website a section grouping all USB3 items. (Enclosures, cables, PCIe cards, fully fledged external hard drives etc)

Or at the very least just a section grouping all USB3 external enclosures.

At the moment it is very difficult to find what USB3 items you have, a search brings up USB2 items due to (what I am guessing) the problem that items are listed as USB 3.0 and not USB3

and a search for USB 3 brings up USB2 items as I am guessing is due to USB 2.0 3.5

    Thanks

    Thanks for the feedback

Which particular type of product are you looking for? If you search for " USB 3.0 " you should get the results required.

    Best Regards

    Re: USB3 section

I was just wanting to find the cheapest way to kit my system out with USB3 and it was a bit hard to find everything you had, as it was all hidden inside USB2 stuff.

Can I ask does this come with any way to stand it vertically (as in a plastic snap on stand).

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Newli...-HDD-Enclosure

The really cheap budget USB2 enclosures I have bought all have come with vertical stands, so would be surprised if a premium enclosure like that one did not, but I cannot see any mention of one so figured I should ask.

I can confirm these do come with a stand.

Just a recommendation, you may want to stay away from cheap brands for stuff like USB enclosures. The power bricks are often faulty, the PCBs in them tend not to last very long, and additionally they have very poor cooling which can cause problems for hotter running drives such as Seagates and Hitachis.

    Re: USB3 section

I usually get ones with larger under-fans in the enclosures, usually better cooling and lower noise than some with the tiny 40mm fans that can start squealing in just a few weeks. Adds bulk to the device though. Never keen on poorly or passive/non vented enclosures for 3.5" drives but each to their own. Personally I would check out the 'pod' versions as at least they get better vented, the downside being the disk is less well physically protected so it would depend on environment.

FYI the newer Hitachis 7k1000.b etc (and I assume it translates into the current c step too), I found are much cooler running than their predecessors.
