Hi Scan,
Just wondering if anyone knows when you will have the 6870 in stock? Some competitors have them now, but would prefer to give you my money - especially while you are stress tesing my 3xs bundle!
Ta!
Hi Scan,

Ta!
6850 is in stock now - use Scans search bar
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Excellent.
Now the ultimate question!
Pc is a i5 @ 4ghz, monitor only goes to 1440x900
What's the best choice?
5850, 6850 or 6870?
I have a 5850 in my main pc with a 24" HD monitor, is it worth swapping mine out to the offspring, and getting a 6870?
I would hold out if I was you. The 68XX replaces the current 57XX and the new up coming 69XX will replace the 58XX and then it will go back to the x2 at the end of the series for the duel cards like with the 4870x2
Hope that helps
The 6850 would be a downgrade compared to your current 5850
They should have called the 6850 a 5840
And the 6870 a 5860
As the 6850 sits between a 5830 and a 5850
And the 6870 sits between a 5850 and a 5870 in terms of performance
Hi All,
Thanks for this.
So then, given that the i5 @ 4ghz, is powerful enough, What would you all recomend for a 1440X900 Display?
I was thinking of a 5850 or a 6870 as they are around the same price.
Or should i go for a Nvida 470 as they have just jit the £200 mark?
I know most of those will be overkill for that resolution, but will be getting a larger monitor soon for the offspring, so could do with future proofing a small bit.
Im guessing the best bet would be the 6870 as thats slightly faster than the 5850, but not enough for me to be bothered about replacing it my pc and giving the offspring my 5850? Then again, i do have a HD 24" monitor......
Anyway, wish the wife would hurry up and call me with my card details that i have left at home :-(
Hi guys,
i got the his 5850 for one of my systems and i jest got a 6870 for my son's pc and there is not much in them @ 1920x1080, if you play @ that res then them cards will be a waste, and both mine and my son's systems are i5 @ 4ghz, if you only game @ 1440x900 then a cheaper card will do jest fine something like HD4870/4890 or GTX460
i5 760@4GHZ,HIS icooler 5850,Asus P7P55D-E,4Gb Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz,
Akasa Venom Performance Cooler,1TB f3,x-fi fatality,700w tagan,TJ07
The older cards may have plenty of power for gaming at that res but if his computer is on a lot then the impressibly low idle power usage of the 5xxx and 6xxx cards would make them a better choice but also give a lot of extra features although for gaming mainly just dx11, morphological aa and the options of 3d and/or eyefinity in the future.
With my rig switching from a 4870 to a 6870 would have saved me at least £200 a year in electric (i don't turn my computer of) but i had to go and order 2 of them along with 2 more monitors but if i had not the power saved would have paid for a 6870 within a year.
Heh, good call! 6870 ordered, now just have to stop the billions of bsod's, and we are away. Currently the offsping has stolen my pc, cannot get on the flipping thing.
Next time I'll buy a pre built system, building one is too hit and miss these days when you run into problems.
I have ordered sapphire 6850. Along with and x4 processor. I can't wait to get my hand in those babies.
