It's a lost cause, I can't get it to work anymore.
This is indeed generic RAM. I don't know off-hand whether it is 100% compatable with the mobo and processor, but it would be the first thing that I would check and replace. I don't suppose you've got some good-quality compatable stuff knocking about? (Corsair, from what I've seen, is pretty damn reliable)

[B][I] "A problem has been detected & WIN has been shutdown to to prevent damage & protect your PC.

    PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
    or
    CDFS_FILE_SYSTEM
    or
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    or
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Again, these messages, combined with the generic RAM seem to point towards that needing to be looked at. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA is almost always caused by dodgy RAM. I'm not sure of the primary causes of the other three, but I'm willing to bet that it's the RAM which is the issue.

RDevz, yea I'm looking into new memory, but prices are so high. 1GB from a decent manu is @ least $180 & up, wow!

Here is a reply I got from another forum from this poster who describes what each error I receive could be caused by, tell me what you guys think?

    " IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

OK. This one can be from, USB device, printer, NIC, sound card, serial adapter. Do your drives plug directly into the mobo or are you using an adapter card?? Unplug any of the stuff mentioned (unless there's a Sata card) and see if it will install. If no, and you're using a Sata adapter, you can try it with just a plain old IDE ATA 100 drive and eliminate the Sata adapter that way.

    PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

This on comes up as a Radeon/Ati card that cannot/ does not support DX8?? What vid card you using??

    CDFS_FILE_SYSTEM

This one comes up as a failed read by the CD ROM."

The Audio, LAN, USB, FIREWARE are onboard intergrated, I have them disabled in BIOS. Only the SATA ROM is enabled, b/c it has to be inorder for XP to recognize the SATA HD during setup & F6 install of SATA drivers. My video card is an
CHAINTECH GEFORCE5700 LE AGP. SATA HD is connected directly onto the Mobo SATA1 connector, no adapter card use here.
    No Printers hooked up either.

Called up & spoke with the place where I bought the barebone systen from, spoke with their tech guy, explained the problem(s) I'm having.

He asked what brand of memory I have installed in my PC, before I could spell out the Name of the memory manufacturer, he told me just to bring it in & they will swap it for another memory brand.

Seems like that's the cause of my problems. They're loc here in NYC, so I'll stop by Sunday, since they're closed tomorrow (Sat) hope this solves this issue.

Installed new memory, basically it's another 512MB of generic DDR ram.
    tried install, went through.

Been installing drivers & testing things one by one.

IE which gave me problems in the past install, works fine now it seems so far.

onboard audio giving problems. Well, I have installed most drivers, except that now the onboard audio drivers which installed in the previous install, isn't going through this time.

Internet works fine, things looking good.

Definately sounds like it was a dodgy stick of RAM. You can often boot windows and run it for a while before it topples over even if your memory is pretty dodgy. It will always die sooner or later though.

The crucial guy is being conservative- ECC is designed to prevent memory errors but a good stick of non-ECC RAM should give errors so infrequently that it's not an issue.

I would run memtest86 on the memory and see if it errors. If it does I would take it back and see if theres any branded memory for a small upgrade fee.

    Update,
Rave & WildmonkeyUK, thanks for replying.

    I ordered 1GB of Non-ECC, Non-Registered RAM from Cosair.

My problem now is that I get from time to time the blue screen of death "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error message. A simple reboot would work, but then it we pop up again a day or 2 later or sometimes a few mins later.

I decided to do a clean install of XP. The 1st one went through, but the error message popped up way too much. The last straw was when install SP2 for XP, the error message popped up during the SP2 install, completely crashed my PC. Was forced to do another clean install, this one went through. All seemed fine, but twice now I recieved the same blue screen of death, but this time it mentions my SATA Driver as the cause.
This is the latest driver for my SATA HD. I rebooted, seems ok now.

I's amazing b/c on my 6 yr old PC (PII 400MHZ, 256MB, 10GB IDE HD) everything works fine after having installed XP on it a few months back. Never received these error messages or problems.

Will just see how the PC functions. This new Tech seems like such a hassle.
