Unhappy LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Boot Problems

I have recently built a new system, but I am having problems getting to run properly. If you turn the power supply off and then switch it back on then power on the machine it will boot perfectly. However if you then restart the machine or power off the machine (not the power supply) it will fail to boot until you switch off the power supply.

The system spec is as shown below:-

    AMD 64 3500+ (Winchester)
    LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D
    XFX 6600GT PCI-E
    74GB Western Digital Raptor
    1GB Corsair Value Select
400W XCLIO Power Supply (as found at Scan)

I suspect it to be a problem with the power supply, but if you have any advice/suggestions I would greatly appreciate any help.

    Cheers

    Aaron

    Power/Boot problems with LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D

    Hi Aaron,

I too have been having problems with my mobo not powering back on.

    My system:

    AMD 3500+ S939
    DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D
    Zalman Flower Cooler CNPS7000B
2*512GB Crucial Ballistix (dimm slots 2+4)
    Saphire X800XL PCI-e
    Samsung Spinpoint 80GB SATA
Antec Sonata case with 380W True Power PSU (20pin ATX) - from Dabs

After having a look on other forums it sounds as though this problem is not uncommon. From what I can gather, though I'm not 100% on this yet, the DFI board needs a good quality 400W (min) PSU and 24pinATX power connector to ensure stability (as you can see from above, my psu is only 380W, 20 pin!). I've tried using the extra Molex connector (just right of the chipset fan power socket) and 4 pin connector just above the top 16x PCI-e socket, but to no avail. I still have to shut off, remove the power cable and wait 30 odd minutes before it starts up again!

Apparently pci-e requires more power than agp so higher rated, 24pin psu's seem necessary. Looking at recent reviews of these mobos, most people seem to have used OCZ PowerStream or ModStream PSU's - I can only assume these are 24 pin jobs...? Either that or just higher power/quality 20pin psu's will work?

Anyhoo, I'll be trying a new Antec NeoPower 480W with 24pin ATX psu and will post the outcome some time mid next week.

    Take it easy,

    Paulo

    Resolved

Since the initial post i have made some changes, I have upgraded to Tagan TG480-U01 power supply and upgraded my memory from value select to 2 x Corsair XMS512-3200XL.

Neither of these changes had any imediate effect on he probelm, to resolve the problem i was simply playing around with the jumper settings on my board and changed the power onsetting for USB and PS2 from the default +5V to +5VSB and this seemed to solve it.Wheather it was a combination of all three or just the latter solution, it is now working fine and I have not tinkered with it since.

    Regards

    Aaron

My computer is now up and running too.

I have installed a new Antec NeoPower 480W PSU with 24 pin ATX. As soon as I'd done this (with no changes to mobo selectors) it powered up straight away (I've not tested the supplied 20pin connector so may be irrelevant, but more power certainly seems to have done the trick).

The only problems I had after this were that the system kept blue screening with error messages like:

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    &

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

These were solved with a BIOS update downloaded from the DFI website:

    http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/Downlo...FLAG=A&SITE=UK

Hope this is useful for others having similar problems.

    See ya!
