    Scans finance option

So I was just about to make an order at Scan and chose the 'Buy now pay in 9 months option', mainly because I have to pay for my laptop this month and can't afford to buy a new gfx card outright for a few weeks (BF2 is on the way damnit!!).

However, halfway through the order I come to a screen that tells me there's a "£25 Surcharge Fee" for the finance option.

Why is this? I've ordered from Dabs (who also use V12 Finance) before and chose their finance option twice and I've never, ever been charged this there. So why is it different at Scan?

I have to admit, it's put me off ordering and I'm thinking I may as well just wait 4-5 weeks.

I think that maybe I'm just not meant to be a Scan customer

My last order was an experience that put me off for quite sometime. About 4 years ago, a motherboard I ordered was DOA, I RMA'd it and it came back not faulty, for which I was charged for. It still didn't work though. After a 2nd RMA it was delcared faulty and I asked for a refund. A refund that took me 6 months, numerous emails and phone calls to receive, and even then I wasn't reimbursed fully. And it was Wesley Aldred I dealt with, back when he was just a lowly pe0n. I doubt he remembers though

    Hi,

This is something that is new to us also, it has just been implemented by V12 in there new finance agreements, unfortunatly there is not alot we can do about as this is V12 that has put it in place and not us, i could only guess as to the reason why but im not going to sepculate, sorry if this is a problem but unfortuatly this is out of our hands.

    Regards

Then it must be this week new, because it wasn't in effect when I ordered from Dabs 2 weeks ago. Just checked and it's the same there now too.

Well that sucks. Boo to V12 finance. Guess I'll just hold out a few weeks.

    Thanks

Oh well. Will you still have 6800GT's in the 'Today Only' offers in a few weeks? I expect you will?

David told me you were high up on the pecking order now!

It was a long long time ago, around June 2001 when it started. Bought an Asus A7A266 motherboard which was DOA. got my RMA from yourself, sent it back, came back 'not faulty', charged £24 for that, still faulty, sent back again, this time it was faulty and so began the arduous task of getting a refund. Around November that year I got the refund, sent dozens and dozens of emails and phoned constantly. Have to admit, was a horrific experience that really put me off using Scan again. Hear glowing reports these days though.

Think I only threw out my receipts and correspondence a few weeks back

When i hear horror stories like yours it really brings home how much Scan have changed. All the staff worked SO SO hard in bringing about those changes and thats everyone from MD right down to cleaners. It's good to be able to look back at those times and be truely amazed at what we have achieved as a company. Sure things still go wrong but not even closely near to the scale of your 2001 problems.

I just hope that one day soon we will be able to prove to you just how good we are now.

Anyway thats enough from memory lane for one day.

    Speak to you soon

    Wesley
