    Question Akasa HSF

Can anyone at Scan tell me when you'll be getting the new Akasa Evo120 HSF in stock?

Sorry for the delay - I've just spoken to our puchasing guru and he's ordering from Akasa today and this will be on the order. We therefore anticipate that these will arrive in about a weeks time.

    Best Regards,

    Dear god !!

That things a monster. Reckon I`ll be getting me one of them, had been going to get the Evo33. Wasn't aware that existed but it looks amazing. Only 15dB of noise compared the 43dB of the Evo33.

Well worth the price for the noise drop alone.

I meant the size issue, not the socket. My mobo has some odd positioning and I know some coolers get in the way of the graphics card or RAM.
    Thanks for looking anyway!
Anyone know where I can check?

Have you tried looking at your mobo and the dimensions of the HSF. I`m getting a MSI K8N NEO4 Plat board and from what I have read about this HSF and from looking closely I reckon it should fit my board no probs.

Perhaps you could do the same with yours ?

Looking at the Evo120 the best orientation would seem to be
parralel to case rear as shown Akasa Evo 120 Socket AMD64 and P4 Silent heatpipe cooler Case pics however i think the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D retension screw holes are the wrong way round meaning the radiator & fan will point up the board (towards memory slots)

Can anyone confirm this & share any issues/results on DFI Neo4s please.

    thanks

There are some reviews on the net and you can access these on the Akasa site.

    I think its extreme computing.

I have an Evo 33 based on the fact of the tests in customPC.

It runs an AMD at 28 degrees C at the moment using Arctic silver. I havent started overclocking yet (waiting for scan to replace some Corsair memory that went funny).

To the peson that said the Evo 33 runs at 43db, then as I actually have it I can say maybe. There is a fan controller. If you run the fan at 4300 rpm then it sounds noisy. Turn it down to 2000 and its pretty quiet so you werent comparing like with like.

I wanted the evo 120, but Scan didnt have them in stock and my system build was imminent. The evo is nowhere near as efficient at cooling as the evo 33 and costs 50-100% more. Its quite though. The tests are inconclusive about its cooling abilities although they are average to good, but not stunning.

The newest kid on the block will be the new Zalman 9500, which is both quiet and efficient.

    Your choices are for AMD64

    1. Arctic Freezer (excellent value at £15) quiet, good performance and cheap.
    2. Akasa Evo 33 at about £23 excellent cooling performance, but noisier.
    3. Evo 120 virtually silent, good cooling performance but about £35.

    4. Thermalright XP120.
    5. Zalman CNP9500 (coming out in the next month and about £40-45.

Yup i can confirm that the Evo 33 is an excellent cooler. At 2.65Ghz my cpu idles @ 32 and rises to 42 under load.

At default clocks i was @ 26-27 idle using shin etsu
