    Galaxy 6800GT wont POST.....

    I have a bit o a conundrum here,

    Asus K8N-E Deluxe,
    Tagan 480W Black PSU ( 480 -U01)
    Corsair DDR Ram (1GB)
    Galaxy 6800GT.

Right about 6 months ago the Galaxy card packed up, refused to boot was found to faulty etc. and replaced. The replacement arriverd while I was away and I had swapped in my old Ti4200 card as temporary cover.
Finally get around last month to putting in the brand new replacement card, and the system wont boot. No post test etc. put back in the Ti4200 and system will post and boot. I thought no way the card is faulty, put it in a friends system and it worked fine (checked at bios level only). Thought something is wrong with the setup removed all peripherals etc and the system still would NOT boot with just the Galaxy card and RAM.
Tried another PSU (a bog standard ATX 300W). Still no joy. Ring Scan support they say it is probably the card, and I send it back. Apparently they have finished testing it, and found no fault. So I am really stuck (with a £30 charge too). The system used to work before, so what has changed!!!!!!!

Other info: Ran ram test to check RAM, all OK
    Bios updated to latest version
PSU is the same as tested in friends computer (Tagan black etc)
Tried in a brand new motherboard (another nForce 250Gb chipset) same result using the RAM and PSU.

Could it really be the PSU??????? Some mentioned that I might nedd a split rail type one if the Galaxy was taking too much juice from the MB.

    Any help really appreciated.

Also asked Customer service what the test system they used was, and didn't get a reply aprt from another message saying the card ran 3dMark05 fine.

    Thanks

    Shilen

p.s. Just got some new games and my Ti4200 wont cut it, so pleaaaassssssssseeeeeee help.

Fyi I've run a Galaxy 6800GT for over a year on a Tg480/nF3 250Gb so unless your PSU has developed a fault it shouldn't be a problem.

    Exact Specs Are:

    AMD A64 2800+ (Socket 754)
    Asus K8n-E Deluxe
    Corsair TwinX-XL 1GB PC3200
    128M Galaxy 6800 GT
Tagan 480W Quiet PSU (Model 480-U01)
All other stuff (HDD etc) removed during testing.

if it was the PSU, i tried the system with an alternate standard 300W PSU (Just the 6800 and ram plugged in) and the sytem still would not boot. I know that power supply is weak, but does a reach the minimum requirement.

For those of you at Scan the RMA number was: RMA 123638

imo 480w is more than enough, I've built more demanding stable systems with SLI on a 480w.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS?

Yeah I did try, that too. What bugs me is that my standard Ti4200 works fine. I am tempted to get hold of another 6800 or 7800 and try that. At least then I may be able to isolate the problem to the MB/PSU/GPU

The thing I dont understand is the setup worked perfectly fine till the old card stopped working (and was found to be faulty). Nothing in the setup has changed. Scan still haven't got back to me with their test system details (not that it would help much).

I am guessing I should just get the tested card sent back, or would Scan have a look at the setup for me??

Does nothing at all. i.e. ne beeps, just MB light on and thats it/

Just realised that I dont have any cards in the PCI slots, and the last time i did (a Digital TV card) the system would not boot either (I just presummed it was the TV card being crap). Could it be the power regulators for the PCI/AGP slots. Should I check by adding in a few PCI cards?
