I placed an order with ya the other day, and one of the items is out of stock.
You have recommended me an alternative item which I'll happily accept. How would I go about doing so? I couldn't see anything when logged into Scan.

If you simply visit the support section, and log a query with our CS team using the invoice number - they'll be able to deal with this in the morning for you.
