    ASUS A8NE Mobo problem

I've just got a new mobo, opteron and geforce 7800GT.

Ive installed it all but windows will not let me install any of the new mobo drivers or graphics card drivers from the web.

When i download and extract it keeps saying the file is corrupt for the graphics card driver and the setup extracts but then doesnt run for the mobo driver. I've downloaded the drivers from several different locations now and still exactly the same happens.

Also my mobo does not recognise my Opteron 146. It just says unknown Athlon.

Do you think ther is a fault with the mobo or other components?

    Regards

    Stephen

That sounds like a BIOS update is required for that motherboard.

Please be aware that if you update the BIOS you might be required to use the newer chipset drivers of v6.65 or later.

After checking the Asus CPU support guide however on the following link - http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx the Opteron 165 is not on the "supported" CPU list at the present time.

    Best Regards,

I've put a BIOS update on.

However I still cannot installer new motherboard drivers or graphics card drivers. It just keeps saying everytime it extracts that the file is corrupt!

I would imagine then as is it not on the Asus supported list, that they are not going to work together.

Are you downloading files on the A8N-E & have you installed the Network Access Manager/Firewall?
If you have then corrupted downloads are a well known problem on nF4 (Google to check) & see
    http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=55034 for a solution
" Simply go to your current profilenvidia firewall > active armour> application.
Change Offload Default to: "Not Offloadable"."

    Or just uninstall NAM etc.

    That sounds like the fault.

    What is NAM?

If I just uninstall the nvidia firewall and stick with Norton I should be grand right?

    Network Access Manager.
I believe that nForce 6.70 resolves the problem but I do without.

As a final thought, because my opteron isnt in the support list. It comes up as unknown athlon in bios, which is fair enough.

But will this mean that the extra L2 cache on the opteron wont be accessible? I would think not and that it would run normally just go unrecognised but just to make sure.

    Kind Regards
