XFX 6800GS AGP problems according to XFX

I'm expecting this card ( http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=314618 ) to be delivered today but I've been reading on the XFX forums ( http://www.xfxforce.com/forums/threa...=2686&tstart=0 ) that apparently the standard card has been placed into the Extreme Edition box by mistake. Are you able to contact XFX and get any info on this please? if this is the case will I need to send it back to Scan or will XFX sort something out?

    Thanks

    Hi Steve,

Did you receive a reply from XFX? If so, what's the outcome? I am interested in buying either a 6800 GS Extreme or a 6800GT depending on whether this issue with the non-extreme versions is resolved...

    Thanks for any info.

i contacted scan last wednesday about recieving the wrong card (confirmed by proppelerhead xfx's uk support)and was told theyd email me about where i stood on the matter this hasnt arrived, which i can understand as i realise that you havn't the correct answers yet but im getting concerned about returning the product as i purchased it christmas eve and replaced 3rd jan due to fault on original card.Technical support has my details and originally they were going to refund me but as i explained to them i would like to exchange for the correct card.Any info on your returns procedure would be helpfull as i contacted customer support within seven days of purchase but its now dragging on.

It seems that XFX won't even tell a company like Scan what the deal is, let alone end users...

I see you're no longer describing it as the Extreme Edition. I have a printout and screenshot of when it was described as the Extreme edition, which is what I ordered.

Dont panic we havent changed it in hope that people will forget ... we have changed it to show the correct info so that we can limit the issues this has caused .

Update ---- we have spoke to XFX and they have stated that on the box it shows the model of the stock standard card that you have recieved, and are unwilling to take returns, however but they did however offer customers a copy of CODII and a XFX T-Shirt as compensation, we on the other hand will take the cards back if you mis-lead by the advertisemet of extreme editions, all returns quieries should be log via the website @ http://web6.scan.co.uk/Support/index.asp

Thanks for the update, will there ever be an "Extreme Edition" with higher specs (within the next few weeks) or is this as good as it's going to get?

Many thanks for your help in this matter

edit: also why does it have an "Extreme Edition" sticker on the box if xfx are saying that what's in the box is correct?

    Hi,

Not sure why they have the XT sticker on there, as the indications we have from XFX i dont even think there are going to bring one out, but if i get anymore info on this then i will update this thread.
