    Low profile AGP DX9 card

    Hi Guys,

I've been fishing around for 2 low profile DirectX 9 AGP video cards. I've seen a couple on other sites thanks to some of the guys on the hexus help section. Some cards I've found do mention a low profile bracket, some *might* have a low profile bracket, but unfortunately, as i'm buying this through work, we ideally need to have an account with the company we're buying from. However, fortunately for you, we have an account with Scan, so can you supply us with 2 low profile AGP DX9 cards (with brackets)? They don't have to be high spec - 128MB is enough.

We have some cards that are low profile but I'm afraid it looks like these too have the full height brackets on them.

    Best Regards,

do you mean this sort of thing?
    128Mb Asus AGP N6200TD Tv/DVI
    128M Asus AGP ATI A9250TD Tv/DVI
I am unaware of smaller size brackets... as all cases have the same pci slot brackets on the back. Could you please explain (with diagrams ) what you mean?

EDIT 128Mb *PCI* XFX GeForce FX 5200 DDR TV (bring DirectX9 to your old PC, low profile)?

Hi EG... unfortunately not all cases do have the same PCI slots on the back - these cards are for going in SFF Dell PCs.

    See here:

    http://www.computercareonline.com/images/x300_tn.jpg

For the difference between a regular PCI bracket, on the left, and the low profile ones next to it.

The ones you've listed have low profile PCBs, but unfortunately won't fit into the case as they are too big.

Wow I have never heard/seen of any cards with brackets like that, I'll post back if I find anything for you.

EDIT LOL I managed to find one at a rediculous price Here

EDIT2 Ah found something useful Here ah crap its PCI... PCI should suffice for work shouldn't it? you haven't really said what you need it for.. except your sig says video editing and I dont think it will be powerful enough

Hi Goku - PCI cards should be fine, but I just need something with DX9. I'm actually buying them for someone else who's testing Vista for our place, and they need any DX9 card to use the new Glass thing or whatever it's called. If we could find even a PCI card with DX9 that's low profile, that might be ok...

Thanks for looking, and I'm glad you learnt something new

Problem is, not all low profile cards have the video connectors in the same place.

Ah man this is impossible, have you tried phoning Dell Support and asking them where you would go to buy one? Or do Dell have a component store or something?

You can just remove the larger bracket - if it is a low profile card - and then use a single connector - most probably DVI. It wont be as secure as normal but if it has a low profile PCB it will fit.

Don't know if you found a card already, it took me quite a while to sort one of these out for myself a few months ago.

Not sure if i'm gonna get my arse kicked for this link, but here goes...

Not a brilliantly uber powerfull graphics card, but AGP, DX9 and most importantly it comes with a low profile bracket in the box
