    Modem Router suggestion help

    Hi

    am wanting to get a wired router with built-in modem which I can use for two computers, be able to take 8mb b/band and if possible have no firewall (pain to set ports etc).

    Have had bad luck with routers in past, a netgear i had kept dropping and a Dynamode i had later had all kinds of problems. At moment am just using a rubbish Alcatel modem.

    Would appreciate a little guidance about any router/modems that cover the above criteria and are sold by Scan.

    Cheers.

    I've used the following equipment and found it really good ;

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=137393

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=101984

    Then the laptop got replaced so I needed a wireless signal every now and again so I upgraded to the following equipment ;

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=278499

    I'm still on the asus router now. It's giving me the longest uptime out of the lot of the routers I've used. It's also not crashing like certain hardware has done in the past with too many connections open, and its got some really good features like the fact its ADSL2+ supporting so it will support the future upgrades and newer ADSL2+ releases coming soon.

    Hope this info helps

    Cheers Lee for reply - is it possible with the DLink to switch off the firewall and to have all ports open and just have the firewall software on pc running?

    Cheers again.

    I think it is, but if it is just 1 PC that you want to give 'pure' unadulterated access you could always set the PC as static IP and use the IP in the 'DMZ' of the router. Works for me

    Is the dlink easy to setup as am wanting to run 2 pc's from the router; one pc to use as a downloader and file sharer and other just for browsing and playing online gaming.

    Any help on how to do this would be a great help.

    I've noticed that most routers nowadays are easy to setup compared to some of the hardware that used to be available about 2 year ago.

    The wizards and guides are very easy to use and I'm sure I've got some pics of the menu systems on my old router from when a friend needed a bit of help.

    Bear with me and I'll dig these out over the weekend for you.
