    Video on my pc looks very dark..

    Hi
    I bought a pc from SCAN several years ago, it has 4 year old Iiyama CRT 19" screen, I dont have the exact model number but it was one of the best 19" screens at the time. It is set up as RGB on its menus, as this gives a much better image for text etc. The problem is that video, however it is played..DVD, Window media player etc, always appears very dark. Pictures and general display is perfect the problem only appears to be when playing video. I have tried adjusting the contrast, brightness, and switching out of RGB to a colour temperature, but this only marginally helps and makes the rest of things displayed on the screen text/pictures look bad.

    I'm sure the problem has always existed, I've only particularly noticed it when playing video on another pc which looked fine and then viewing it on my own pc I could barely make out anything, it was like the video was taken with the sun going down!

    Any ideas of what could be wrong? can I adjust any settings on the monitor or perhaps the graphics card?

    if its an nvidia vid card just adjust the brightness/contrast in the color correction tab on the driver settings, not sure where the ati settings will be but they will also have the a bit somewhere to do the same

    If you're using WMP too, you can adjust the video settings specifically...i.e. adjust the brightness of the video that you're playing without affecting the desktop, icons etc around WMP.

    How do I do that?
    I tried to adjust the settings as stated above, but when I got into the driver there werent any options to adjust anything!! Like I said everything looks good text/pictures, but video is really gloomy!!
    How do you adjust the video settings in WMP then???

    In WMP go to the top and select the following ;

    View --> Enhancements-->video Settings and then a new box should appear within WMP

    You can use the slide bars to adjust brightness, contrast, hue and saturation.

    Best Regards,
