512MB Sapphire Radeon X1950 XTX or 1Gb EVGA 7950GX2, Superclocked,

I have narrowed my search for a graphic card to either the 512MB Sapphire Radeon X1950 XTX or 1Gb EVGA 7950GX2, Superclocked.

Please advice which is the better card to go for. I am not intrested in Sli or crossfire, although my mobo(Supermicro H8 DCE) is sli.

All I want is a good single card that will last me a 'few years', main use is video editing, gamming etc. Being quiet and not running too hot is a criteria. All advice appriciated.

    Many thanks

What games do you play the most?

In most games the 7950gx2 will win out, but games like Oblivion run better on the X1950.

Also more games in the future may use HDR + AA at the same time, something the 7950GX2 can't do.

Neither card is especially noisy, though the x1950xtx is probably quieter and cooler.

I am just about to start playing games, i have got Quake 4, Serious Sam II, F.E.A.R and Myst. I do a lot of video editing / graphics and this will be the main work for the card, gaming is just a side line. Many thanks for your help.

the x1950 is prolly a better choice all round really but the 7950gx2 is just to sexy.

Xrob, card looks nice, i see you have it hooked up already, how fast is it; how much noise does it make; quality of graphic, etc?

Is there any reason why you said the X1950 is a better choice? it looks as if i will be going evga.

Thanks for the pics and info.
