Just restarted router (just in case) same problem in both ff and ie7 I'm just getting no such site messages. Perhaps its tiscali, but all other sites seem to be working

Must be a provider related issue as we've certainly had no other reported issues.

try clearing your dns cache by doing this command in cmd:
ipconfig /flushdns
sometimes I have issues with sites then they load once this has been done
Just got home and the sites there. Thanks for all the suggestions.
if your isp is ntl/telewest by any chance then try changing the proxy you connect with. list of proxy's can be found HERE, just copy and paste proxy into connections page of IE/FF
