As the thread title suggests, I was wondering if any of you fellow Hexites had used AdvanceTec to purchase something. As a result how have your purchases gone with them, finally, if you have had to RMA, how did things pan out then?

    Thanks, all views/opinions appreciated.

I have looked at them a few times but they seem a fair bit more expensive than most.

I bought an Asus P5K WS of them some time ago, however I couldn't get my Areca PCI-X SATA RAID card to work in its PCI-X slot, so sent it back under the 7 day Distance Selling Regulations however initially they said that I couldn't return it, however after I kicked up a bit of a fuss (to say the least), they apologised and I was able to return it, but they knocked off 25% of the refund for a "restocking fee" which I was not very happy about, althought it is stated in their Terms and Conditions.

I did use them again (because I couldn't find this processor anywhere else at that price) and bought an Intel E8400 processor for £131 (delivered), this worked out fine.

    25% is a total con.
I definitely wouldnt use them if their servie is that shabby.

By the sounds of it, they even try it on with the legal stuff.

Restocking fee is illegal under the DSR.

Huh? I'll stay clear of these folks, thanks everyone for your feedback.
Shame as they seem to do certain items reasonably priced that I was after which are a bit difficult to get a hold of here.

The DSA does not allow a restocking fee for returned items. It's illegal to do so.
