    Those cheapo laser printers...

As our uni department is all closed due to half of it burning down, I have decided that I need my own printer.
Dont really see the point in inkjet as it will be 90%+ text and docuements in black and white. And laser shoudl be cheaper to run.
So is the £60 job from ebuyer any good?
    Any other suggestions?
Basically cheapest laser printer is what i want, but if its crap I wont bother. Has anyone got one? Are they worth it?
Yeah just general opinions or suggestions

    Cheers

I bought a samsung ML-1510 laser printer for about £50, at the beginning of the year (I think), have had average use out of it both me and my better half printing docs for Uni etc. The toner is still going fairly well as is the priner itsself. Been looking at the ones on e-buyer as a possible replacement for mine when the toner finally goes. New printer or new toner about the same price.
Overall, good experience with my cheap Laser printer.

Just buy a toner refill kit from about £15 quid and get a new printer when you need a new drum.

A HP4100 / 4050 will go for years. We still have some running at work and they've been here since the mid 90s!

easy as pie to refill most samsungs. however having done a few coupla tips - wrap sheet of paper around cart and tape in place - covers green drum - easy to damage and even fingerprints can ruin drum.

I have loadsa spare refills for Samsung ml1210/1510 so watch the for sale forums soon

No quality issues with the samsungs output.

Another tip: When you get a new printer, they often supply toner cartridges that are only part filled. This is especially the case with colour printers, and one way that they can sell new printers so cheaply. The manufacturers call them "light duty", "taster" or "sample" cartridges. Some may call it a con, I couldn't possibly comment! Oh yes, and the ebay machines, well, I'm sure some of them are good, but there's probably a reason they are being sold in the first place! Drums etc for big office printers can cost an absolute fortune.

Before you buy a new one (or second hand one) give refilling a go!

Toner refills are trickier than inkjet, and some manufacturers void your warranty if you use non OEM kits. HP is more forgiving though. PickyGuide says: Incompatible refills can damage the cartridge and void the warranty on both the cartridge and the printer.
