    I'd recommend the Acco Saddlebag.

Thing I really like about it is that it works well as a proper bag (with plenty of pockets for all your cables, discs etc. and a whole section for carrying paperwork or sandwiches.

Also looks smart, so is appropriate in a office environment, and can be carried in 3 ways. Comfortable well padded handle for carting around the office or tube/crowded train (wher. Sholder strap for when you are fed up with carrying by handle, but don't want to ruin the suit.

Finally comes with concealed backpack straps (in their own zipper compartment) for when you need a proper rucksack.

They do various versions in various colours / versions. I bought mine for a Mac specialist for a tenner (as a job lot with an apple logo on it). A quick froogle shows the following as cheapest ATM:

Mines been used daily for nearly 2 years and still looks as good as new!

The saddlebag can be used as a rucksack - I use mine occasionally as such which is why I posted details about it!

i have a pakuma k2 rucksack. Problem with it is that it's twice the size of a standard rucksack so it's really not all that convenient to carry. It's more like something you would go mountain climbing with than carry to college or uni.

I actually use a targus lappy rucksack. it fell out of a firm i worked for when one of the managers wanted a standard bag for his lappy and i wanted his rucksack. we swapped over and both were happy.

as for where to get them... mine came via dell but there are a million and one targus dealers online... a quick google should find one for you.
I am trying to see it your way, but I can't get my head up my arse

No, no its not. I had to lug round a fiarly average 15" laptop that was a bit on the heavy side, nearly 5kg iirc. I'm not a little person either, 6foot 4, and i've got wide shoulders, so i guess that might be why, but it wasn't remotely comfortable. Sorry crumpler not impressed, design wasn't inovative or comfy, didn't see anything to justify the price tag, i was told it has cost over £100 too...... wouldn't bother imo, enless its some fassion statement.

Its not a fashion statement but i still stand by my view. I have owned a lot of bags and this one just feels comfier than any other i've owned. I am also similar build btw.

Its this one by the way:
