I'm looking for a laptop as cheaply as possible to do:
Word/office applications,
Browse internet
watch DVDs
I imagine a spec of roughly P3 1ghz and a 14" screen would be ideal.
I happy with new or refub, just don't know where to look.

For sale/trade forums.
Local paper? Not the best source but could have a look.
Ebay? Again questionable.

I would hold out for Medionshop.....they will have better deals than that!
ON the PC world advert they say laptops starting from £299 dont know what it is though.
well this will be for my flatmate, it'll need a good amount of ram so everything runs smoothly. though i imagine that i'll need to upgrade that myself since they still ship budget laptops with only 256 shocking!!

"God is as real as I am,” the old man said.
I was relieved since I knew Santa wouldn’t lie to me ...

Right this is actually for my house mate.
The laptop just need to be portable and functinal, all she will use it for is internet, office and dvds.
I've done a bit of a searhc but havent found much, the budget is £350 max.
What have you guys found?
to get more than 256 MB of ram for £350 is nigh on impossible for a new machine.
In total it would have to be at least £400. You could get one second hand but they
are normally even more than new ones as people havent caught on to how cheap new
ones are now.
also try the dell outlet shop cant remember the url do a quick google and that should throw it up, I bought a Dell Inspiron DVDRW 40 gig disk modem/nic/wifi 756mb ram for £340 delivered, you gotta keep checking it as it changes all the time
HTH
