Question WHAT TFT? Looking for 19"/20" widescreen TFT Help Please

I have been looking to upgrade to a bigger TFT 19"/20" wide screen, looking to spend £170 - £330.

    Have been looking at the Acer AL1916Ws-19" Wide (1440 x 900) 8ms £171.54
As it is very good value for money....

but then i looked into it a bit more and it got me thinking that it mite be worth spending more
on a descent monitor as its not something you tend to upgrade often or go out of date unlike most Hardware.

Have Also been looking at the Acer AL2051Ws which is 20" widescreen and Rez is much better by having a native rez of 1680X1050, with also 8ms Price £293.75

Not sure really? Not sure what other manufactures can compare for that price as i will be looking at £170-£330 mark.

If you are going for 20", get the 2005FPW. Theres no competition and it can be had for around £330.

I got mine from ITC Sales:
    http://www.itcsales.co.uk/acatalog/2..._Displays.html

Hassle-free - except they needed a bit of ID scanning & emailing to verify my credit card, as I was having the monitor shipped to a different delivery address than my credit card's address.

Wonderful monitor, and I got mine four/five months ago for ~£330 delivered. Out of stock at present, but why not email them and ask for an ETA?

Edit: I got mine because I was looking for a decent 19" 4:3 TFT for around £180. After spending a lot of time researching (and a bit of time here, too), I decided to spend a fair bit more on either a 2001FP or a 2005FPW. I settled on the 2005FPW for three reasons: everyone here recommends them; ITC had them at a significantly cheaper price than Dell; and the famous John Reynolds (of SimHQ and B3D fame) had a 2405FPW, and he's my hero. I've never regretted it.

I've got a 2005 when Dell was running the 25%off offer in January, and I was very inpressed with it. Moving froma 19" iiyama crt to the 20" widescreen was so much better. WoW in widescreen is really nice. The back light issue in my opion is over rated. I got back light bleed but i don't watch movies on it and it's not an issue in any of the games that I play. I'm hoping this is going to last me at least 3 years!

i also vote for the dell 2005fpw, however look at this:

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...k_Only_25.html

(about a third of the way down the page)
    the acer 20" for £280.

    Either way, 1680 x 1050 rocks.

Hey Ja3h, just got my 2001fp, and it's nice. 2005 highly recommended.
    I got mine here:

they're refurbed, but mine is in great condition, could be new. 1yr warranty is fine with me.

I've been looking for a widescreen monitor myself.

There's a few places with the Acer listed if you go through Froogle but they're all pretty pricy.

Pricerunner still lists ShopAcer as having it priced at £293.75. As you say, it's not on the site though. Strange !

The one I'm after (subject to change !) is the new NEC GX2 widescreen. Not seen many reviews, or indeed places with them in stock, but the initial buzz on them seems promising.

Have a look at the NEC and Viewsonic VA1912w/2012w too.

    It's a tricky decision, good luck !
