    noob dilemma

First off, I am a complete noob when it comes to computer speak, I know my way around a computer but don’t understand all the modding/overclocking stuff.

I bought a dell all-in-one to replace a 16 year old dinosaur I gave up on when I couldn’t upgrade anymore. The dell was a big step up but it only has a (please don’t laugh) NVIDIA GEforce 2. I can’t take it anymore! With no pixel shading I can’t play any new game.

I wanted to really go at it thins time; I wanted the best computer in the world. I looked

around and, guess what, found nothing except squabbling over the best equipment. That’s
why I posted this; I want calm nonbiased suggestions about which one to buy. I know
there is no way to get the best and keep it because of the rate of advancement in the technology but I want the best computer available now. Price is no object. I can’t “just build my own”, I explained that at the top. And lastly, please don’t yell at me, I just want a good computer.

Hey Honor. We're friendly people....so we don't yell too much.
Just to clarify, you want a whole pre-built system....does that include a Monitor?
Also, you say price is no object...I take it up to a point?
Are you concerned purely with performance, or with noise levels, how it looks etc?
Off the top of my head, I've heard good things about Scan Computers' (www.scan.co.uk) 3XS systems.

    1. I would like it to look nice but it doesn’t have to.(I can always stick the tower under my desk)
    2. I would like a deal with screen and stuff as the screen I use now is permanently attached to my computer. I would also like a nice mouse and keyboard, it doesn’t have to come as a deal but I don’t want to have to buy stuff from different sites.
    3. Price is no object, up to a point, nothing ludicrous like million dollar supercomputers but this is basically a wish list thing so it doesn’t have to be cheep.
    4. And, if nothing else, I want it to be quiet; I can’t stand a fan buzzing during a suspense moment.

You might want to drop a line explaining all the above to sales@kustompcs.co.uk

They won't be the cheapest but you will get a good product, tailored to your needs & with excellent support should you ever require it.

I would recommend scan myself nothing but good experiences,

have a look at there 3XS pre built range

    http://3xs.scan.co.uk/

and the after care from this company is spot on, any problems at all they will try there best to sort it not seen a company like it

if you are still not sure by looking at them pages, try ringing them up specifiying your needs and they should be able to match a system up to your requirements,

They're not bad, but tbh, Scan are head and shoulders above them and everyone else in terms of price and after-sales care. Scan are the only place I go to for computer stuff now, because I know I'm ok if anything goes wrong.

This post might seem a little like ass kissing, but I'm just that impressed with my experiences with Scan .

I've used Kustompcs and agree they have some of the best (if not the best) customer service.

Scan are recommended as I'm a bit of a 'Scan fan'. I hardly order from anywhere else (unless discontinued/out of stock) since the free offer.

I've a sneaking suspicion that honor_blade is not in the UK, so the links posted so will not be particularly helpful to him/her. I may, of course, be wrong...

    You could try http://www.hardforum.com/

....or stay here for spec advice before going to a US system builder with your requirements.

Yeah HardOCP are the equivalent to what Hexus is to the UK - by all means the whole world is welcome here but the majority of UK enthusiasts are gathered here
