I've bought an Acer laptop from Ebuyer and they did a special double memory offer on the Acer. Very good value at the time, I think about £450 for 1.5Ghz, 512Mb, 14.1", 40Gb HDD. I think you might get a little more for your money now but I don't see too many laptops with 1Gb RAM at that price. Also you will be stuck with the Celeron processors at this budget.

Also try PC World website as they do surprising have some special offers on laptops and delivery is normally free too.

dell do offers occasionally on the inspiron 1300 which isnt bad at all. mine was 289 inc vat and delivery, i went for the 15.1 screen and that made it 330. its 1.53 celeron m, 40gig (now 60 i think), 256meg (now 512 i think), wireless, dvdrw/cdrw, works. its worth having a look when the offers come on.

I've never bought anything from Dell but Clunk is right that they do some good offers quite regularly on their desktops and laptops so it might be worth a look. Dell do tend to try to add extra warranty and things to bump up the price so good luck navigating through their ordering system

gig of ram at that price is going to be hard to find, you would proabbly do best to ignore ram when buying it then seperatly buy ram and drop in in. Its meant to be quite easy in most laptops.
