Noticed a few have mentioned using the Staples/DHL delivery service to send stuff, thought I'd let you know that it's changed...completely.
It seems DHL haven't been very happy with it only being £8 for pretty much anything and have changed their service completely, they say it's better. It's not. Basically they've taken it from a Staples branded courier service that use DHL, to making Staples stores a DHL drop in point. Unfortunately they've method of sending stuff, and the prices to boot.
- Whatever you want to send MUST fit into one of the premade DHL envelopes/boxes. If it doesn't then it's tough, you've got to go elsewhere.
- Largest box isn't very large. Don't expect to send PC cases or anything large at all.
- The boxes are just boxes with lids, not proper packing, so you've got to add appropriate packaging and protection yourself beforehand. Staples employees have been told not to supply customers with any materials either, got to buy it yourselves.
- Prices are a complete rip off, cheapest option is £6 and that's just a largish envelope.
- Items are only insured for £100. There's no option to increase that, so if you want to send something that's worth more than £100 then go elsewhere, if it gets damaged or lost you'll only get a ton back.
Complete waste of time. DHL said it was implemented to make both them and us (Staples) more money. With the previous format my store was getting roughly 10 packages per week. During the past 3 weeks of using the new format we've had a whopping ZERO sales. That's not justs because it's been a slow trading period, plenty of people have been in to get stuff sent but they've turned around and gone to the Post Office instead.
