    Ordering from OCUK

Hi, today i ordered the Hyundai ImageQuest N91W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black. however later today i recieved an email saying there was an order problem being because i used a Debit/Credit Card they said:

In order to comply with credit and debit card regulations, we need to verify your identity. To allow us process this and subsequent orders please post or fax (details below) copies of 2 of the following documents. 1 - Bank statement showing address and within last 3 months.2 - Credit card statement showing address and within last 3 months.3 - Utlity bill showing address and within last 3 months .4 - Driving licence.

Now i ordered from here a while ago and i never had to do this? why do i need to do that now? Has anyone else had to do this while ordering from them as with any other online retailer i've used this was not required.

Anyway i'm going to cancel this order as i'm not going through all that to buy one item (well my brother won't as this is for him and paid by him).

Some stores do it now - its usually done at random and to protect fraud - the companies have only so much protection now so they do this to aid in the fight against the dishonest people of this world.
Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net

There was a similar thread regarding the other place and the request of the above details, it was only recent, so a quick search should turn it up.

Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up. I think i'll just get this monitor from Micro Direct, it's slightly cheaper too.

One quick question to add to this, will they have charged the credit card? if so i will need to wait before it's all cleared up before ordering the one from Micro Direct.

Yes its the best thing you can do cancel.

this is becoming a real big problem with ocuk don`t ask me why but when i was trying to order a item about 3 weeks back only about £90.00 worth same card that i have used before not to mention been buying kit of them on and off for last 4 years same issue as above. Canceled and put the order with DABs.com ended up saving £2.00 on the postage and got it next day.

With all this ID fraud going on the last thing i would do is send that sort info to a retailer by fax or post .

If you really want to buy an item of them you will have pick it up from the shop, for most of us there are better options.

Most likely, they charged my card regardless which they should not be able to do if there really is a problem with the card. So it make you question what really is going on at ocuk. got my card refunded next day.

Whats with the OCUK bashing? The initial verification thing is so that they can protect themselves should anything go tits up. In this day and age, everyone has to cover their backsides. I'm not claiming OCUK are angels, but they have been reasonable in my experience - minus a rather elongate RMA, but that was a delivery problem, not OCUKs.

It seems fashionable to bash Ocuk, Ive used them a few times, their packaging of goods isnt the best in contrasts to Scan's RMA process (which frankly was pants) I found Ocuk's RMA process awesome

Same thing happened to me ...twice!!

First time I wanted stuff deleivered to my work address. Despite having ordered loads of stuff from them a few years ago, they wouldn't do it unless I sent them copies of bank statments, bills etc.
Well, they lost an order of £500 because of that!!

Next time I thought I'd give them another try and get stuff delevered to my home.
Again , they couldn't do this since they said that the address I gave them wasn't correct and I'd have to send in bank statments , bills etc.

    Another £500+ order lost.

Put my order in@ SCAn and it was perfect.

Now, I won't ever go near them again.

Scan likewise - at least they did. I ordered a graphics card, they charged for it immediately, but didn't bother telling me it had gone out of stock by the time Monday had come around (it was in when I ordered on Saturday), so a week later I called up and asked what was going on. They'd given me no indication of the problem at all, yet taken my money regardless. In fairness, they did refund quite quickly though.

I've ordered more from OcUK than from Scan, yet I've had more issues with Scan, and yes, their packaging leaves rather a lot to be desired sometimes.

Scan are great - and especially generous to Hexus members - but I thought I'd even it out a bit with some of my own experiences.
