Whats the worst price you've seen for a piece of IT kit or IT service?
e.g.
PC World, Jan 2004 - 12*DVD ROM , CREATIVE - £69.97!
Local PC Shop in Reading, Dec 2003 - USB flexilight - £15! (£3 from e-buyer)

They often have reasonably priced hdd's, coolers and other bits and bobs etc. Especially when you take off the delivery charges.
One of my clients paid just over £1000 for a memory upgrade for his Unix server some years ago. He was a bit put out when I showed him a source for the same component for £130.
Teach him to ask first and not just pay the price his "supplier" quoted him won't it. Still, that's a "financial consultant" for you. He makes his living from giving people expert advice, but doesn't seem to listen to any.
This WAS, however, a long time ago (about 1988 I'd guess).
Paying £170 for a freecom 4x CD-RW "before internet shoping"
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?
I paid £160 for a 4x HP burner when they first came out.
Then got a Liteon the other day, 48x for £30 or so.
Seeing a GeForce 2 GTS for £199.99 in PC World's "bargain" section a couple of week ago. It was reduced from £229.99 to clear it.
My local Game also has a GeForce 2 Pro for £99.99 going at the moment if anyone wants to pick up a bargain.
Yeah I think this should be current deals, becuase otherwise people are going to say like me:
I got a 4 gig hardrive for £100 with install...what a bargain!
Yeah?
Twigman
my boss at work paid £230 for a 240W atx psu that came from a specialist box (some fibre analysing kit) - about 4 years ago (they were £20ish at the time)
hughlunnon@yahoo.com | I have sigs turned off..
One of my coursemates asked me today if this was a good deal (she had been told it was by whoever was trying to sell it to her, supposedly at half the original price):
A 1.13 GHz P3 laptop with 128MB ram, a 20Gig HD, and 16 MB graphics for... wait for it.. £900!!! And she had been convinced it was a good deal as well! There are some real con artists out there, i tell thee..
