can't get the drivers to install on Windows 7 with an X1650.....
Will wait and see if a workaround appears!

I think I may have spotted your issue...

Yeah, that's great...but the vista version is the same as the Win 7 version...and NO driver gets installed at all. Just fails and dumps me back to 9.1 (missed 9.2). So, as this is the last version to support my old X1650, I'm looking for a cheap 3450 or something similiar....
I have no issues with no Win 7 support, but surely the vista driver could be installed? The snazzy new installer checks the hardware and continues, then falls over at the end! Bizarre

AMD have dropped support for anything older than HD2xxx/HD3xxx/HD4xxxx devices, in this driver version. Anything older; you'll need to stick to 9.2.

*shrug* dunno I'm afraid, my Win7 box is NVidia (which I'm pleased to say I've had no issues with at all). If you're looking for a replacement it might be worth going for a 4350 rather than a 3450: they're only about a fiver more (although another fiver again will get you a 4550, which has much faster GDDR3 memory...)

    Exactly - eventually I'll be looking at a 4850!
But seriously I'm pleased that older stuff is getting the boot, just need to find a budget and buy!
