Hmm, it looks a bit gimmicky, reminds me of that Logitech keyboard that has a tiny screen on it. Such a shame, I was hoping it would be more full size screens that fold out to the sides! Surely with OLED technology this isn't out of the question?

I can see some people liking this. I wouldn't, but then I wouldn't be buying a massive 17" laptop, which is about the only thing these will fit in.

You have to do something with all that space round the keyboard after all.

Re: News - Intel shows off multi-screen notebook concept

    Absolute genius

So, whats the betting that in a production version those 3 panels will be multi-touch? Most likely the main screen also (as we're talking 3 years before we see one..and my money is on multi touch screens going everywhere over the next 3-5 years)..its an awesome concept.

Anyone remember those programmable keyboards with LCD displays on the keys that were demo'd a few years back? Every key had just an LCD display on the top, and you could link the screens together to create a completely customer keyboard layout, or just use some of the keys to display information (as with the intel screens on that laptop).

This idea strikes me as similar (assuming they become touch panels) but a much better implementation of the same sort of concepts..

    Either way, I want one!

I think you are probably right about them being touch panels, would make a lot more sense.

The keyboard you are thinking of is the Optimus Maximus:

    It is true.
In my old job the desk head stopped me leaving on time to meet a friend of mine for the cinema, i pleaded with him that I had a date, which he didn't believe, reminding me how I was stupid and only dated colleuges or i'd have to be paying the lady in which case she should meet me when he damn well felt i could go home.....

So to prove she excisted and wasn't a figment of my imagination I invited her to meet me in the office (large for EU standards hedge fund). She started to coo over the 4 screen dev setup I had at the time, but i knew it wouldn't last, as we where walking out she saw some one who was dealing with flow products who had an 8 screen setup. I figured I'd lost it right there.

    lol @ TheAnimus

In a multi-screen thread recently, someone commented that the author Terry Pratchett was asked why he had a six monitor set up, his response was along the lines of "because eight wouldn't fit".
